Save Alaska's Wolves
I just took action to end the barbaric practice of aerial gunning at http://www.wolfcampaign.org, and I hope you will, too.

More than 400 wolves have been shot dead under the state's inhumane aerial gunning program that allows trophy hunters to gun down wolves from airplanes or run helpless wolves to exhaustion and then land and shoot them.

We must stop the slaughter of Alaska's wolves. Help me protect these magnificent creatures.

Go to http://www.wolfcampaign.org to take action now.

Thanks for your help protecting wildlife.

1. thanks for posting this ...
we humans are rather arrogant, are we not?

it is not always clear to me how to address "imbalances" in nature but surely we can do better than the mass slaughtering of such fine creatures ...

3. The Alaska Superior Court just ruled

last week that the aerial wolf hunt is illegal. The wolves are safe for now. I posted this at the time, but it sank like a stone.

Anchorage, Alaska - The state Board of Game wants aerial wolf control back up in the air by the weekend. Meeting since 8:30 this morning, board members just finished addressing shortfalls which caused an Anchorage judge to ground the state’s controversial program. Judge Sharon Gleason ruled last week the program needed better scientific justification and must be pared down before pilot-gunner teams can again take to the air. Today, in a teleconference, state Board of Game members voted unanimously to make emergency changes to the program.

One board member, speaking earlier today, said a 2002 study for game management Unit 16B shows ample justification for the state’s predator control program.

“The conclusion says that the number one thing they need to do is reduce the wolf population to no more than 20 individual wolves, through aerial wolf control,” said Cliff Judkins, Alaska board of game member.

Kevin Saxby, an attorney with the state, says the rule changes will go to the lieutenant governor to be signed. Saxby says he expects the program to be operational by the end of the week.

The Board of Game seems determined. Carry on with the protest. I think this aerial wolf kill is barbaric.

6. That's Frank "almost the worst Governor in the nation" Murkowski for you..
All I can say is that he must sure appreciate Taft of Ohio! If it wasn't for Taft, Murkowski would be in the cellar all by himself.

Thanks to Taft, Murkowski is only the second worst Governor in the nation..

Man - Oh - Man, does he SUCK
