Leiberman gets a bad rap
First off, i am not voting for the guy (like my votes gonna matter anyway, living in a March primary state).

I respect him for refusing to waffle on issues or stands that he takes. I'm sorry, but during the debates i can count on three people to tell me what they think without concern for political consequences. Those are Sharpton, Kucinich and Leiberman. Dean is borderline 'straight up' with his answers, but he has had his moments(Medicare), while Clark and Kerry have danced around the Iraq issue among other things. You get the idea that if Kerry had it to do over again he would have voted against the war. Not necessarily out of principle but because it would be more beneficial to him politically right now. Clark, who i support, is prone to see-sawing on issues depending on the audience.

I think Leiberman has instilled in him true Democratic principles - health care, environment, equality, etc. He is truly a moderate democrat. I think we should be more respectful of him. In this day and age of weather-vain politicians he deserves credit for holding true to his convictions. He even had the balls to criticize Clinton when Clinton couldn't keep his own tucked away.

I think our anti-Chimp passions have led us to marginalize a person who otherwise would be more welcome in liberal circles such as this.

Thoughts?

1. As my Scottish Grannie used to say "I canna stick him"
He was taking a sledge hammer to the wall of separation of church and state. I wish he'd take his faith-based butt back to Connecticut.

2. No arguments here
Kucinich is my man and I really dislike Lieberman but he sure as hell has never waffled. Cut his throat if you want bue he will always tell you you he was for this war and here's why. I respect that a hell of a lot. For respect, he's my number 2b after DK & Sharpton.

For personal integrity, he's number 2a.

I'll still never vote for him though.

3. I respect his
stand on moral issues because I'm an Orthodox Jew like him, but his proposed foreign policy and trade policy is really disgusting.

for the purpose of censoring college faculty for "not patriotic" statements. That he aligns with Mrs. Cheney on censorship of speech is worrisome.

13. He runs ads that are pro-Bush and pro-Iraq Quagmire.
He's Bush's best friend in the Democratic primary.

Yes, he's consistent. He's consistently wrong.
