Joe Liebermann just said he's leaving open the possibilty of a
filibuster and of how he will vote on Alito on the Ed Schultz Show.

He said he's "troubled" that Alito has an agenda.

This is good.

3. Beware of DINOspeak...
Maybe he was feeling all inspired by their joint news conference on the Democratic Party's pledge to America earlier today.

9. Hey. it beats the hell out of the alternative. If they weren't going
to filibuster they would have voted this week.

I get pissed at Joe about a lot a stuff, but I can't give him shit for this.

6. He needs to do something to rally the left to him since he now has
a primary opponent who isn't afraid to spend his own, considerable money, to defeat him in a Democratic primary.

11. And THAT is why
EVERY DINO needs to be challenged in a primary this year. Hold them accountable, or at least let them know which way the wind blows. Their beltway advisors are out of touch with the grassroots.

10. He said two conflicting things:
One: He's leaving the possibility of a filibuster open, implying that this is a last ditch effort to keep Alito off the court.

but

Two: He hasn't made up his mind how he will vote on confirming Alito. Meaning, of course that he MAY vote to confirm.

It's either one or the other Joe.

12. He's admitting that 'Alito has an agenda'????
Well, right there, shouldn't that cause Joe to vote "NO". The PEOPLE don't want ANYONE (Dem or Repub) with an agenda on the SCOTUS, we're just asking for a fair interpretation of the law (which Samuel Alito, has proven time-and-again, apparently is incapable of) ~ and you KNOW/ADMITTED that, Joe! How can you not vote "NO"???

15. Yep .... he'll "hold out hope"
and then 'snatch it away' at the important moment. That's what this guy does...again, and again, and again. How long before people start paying enough attention to realize the pattern here.

17. I'm Listening to Lieberman right now... (PST)
and I don't get the impression that Joe Lieberman is as open as initially reported here ... i really hope i'm wrong.

yes, the quotes above is accurate but he's saying that he's going to go back and look into Alitos record to see whether or not he thinks Alito has demonstrated an "open mind" or not.

So, he's pretty much holding his cards to his chest, trying to figure out if he should hold 'em or fold 'em - the way I'm hearing him. And this may be the strategy the Dems are taking on this...

I guess we'll know next week?

18. When he's away from the topic of Iraq, he ain't half bad
He also might be feeling the heat of the challenger for his seat.

But he does vote more progressively than, say, Nelson of FL.

19. I have issues with some of Joe's votes, but I'm glad he's hanging
tough so far on the Alito nomination.

I honestly expect there will be a filibuster.

I am impressed with the Democrats "diversion strategy" of rolling out the ethics deficit issue right now instead of allowing the focus to be on the Alito nomination.

This is smart, and it keeps the Republicans off balance. The Repos have no target as far as the Alito nomination goes and instead are playing defense on the ethics issue.

In the mean time I wrote Joe an e-mail and thanked him for keeping the door open on a filibuster and urged him to support a filibuster, and I keep asking folks to call or e-mail their Demo Senators and ask them to filibuster.
