Oh, wait. No, its just that Holy Joe has an opponent in the next election who is a democrat. He'll posture a bit to try to regain his bona fides, and then slink back to tongue kissing Bush^

2. WE'RE GONNA HAVE A FILIBUSTER!
If Joe's on board, it should be possible to drag along any other recalcitrant Dems.

I'm calling DiFi's office again right now!

21. Wanna place a little side bet?
On the level of weeping and wailing that will result when Lieberman "decides" it is no longer fashionable to be open to a filibuster?
The man is a walking blot on the integrity of the democratic party.
His morals and clarity about what we stand for put him in the republican party and no amount of public squirming is going to whitewash his record.

In the minds of republicans, he's a "good" democrat. That should tell us something.

16. Right on. I'd rather win than bitch! I'm e-mailing him and thanking
him for leaving the door wide open for a filibuster.

No Senator with any brain power will proclaim they intend to filibuster, but we have no Dem Senators saying they won't.

This is good.

There are many more important things afoot (like the survival of our constitutional rights), than our anger over Lieberman. I'm calling tomorrow!

14. Why is this a surprise?
Other than his support for the war, Joe Lieberman is as liberal as can be. It doesn't surprise me he said this.

18. Somethings not right. Why is Joe Lieberman considering it and
not Senator Feinstein?

Is something wrong with this picture? He is the last one who would normally consider this.

Seems a bit too easy. I hope not.

25. He has a democratic opponent in the next election
they are each posturing for their base, dipping a bit here, ducking a bit there, to try to keep their cushy jobs.

Its all bullshit

29. Not surprising
I have no love for Holy Joe. I think his approach to foreign policy is absolutely wrong, and he comes across as smarmy when he talks about morals.

However, he has always been a strong proponent of civil rights, the environment, and a woman's right to choose. So this news about the Alito filibuster is really no surprise.

If Joe's primary challenge is serious I'll support the challenger -- I think Joementum is hopelessly entrenched, kind of like DiFi and the Senator from MBNA, and needs to go -- but in the meantime give him some props and encourage him to do the right thing.

30. Joementum sees a credible dem primary threat in Conn...
...he's just trying to counter that by lying. He'll vote for Alito and then be the first on his knees to kiss King George's bloodsoaked ring.
