Poll question: Poll For Kucinich Supporters
Edited on Fri Jan-30-04 05:19 PM by rucky
Please don't vote if you're not one...

Question is, IF Kucinich dropped out of the race, what would you do?

I know he's not dropping out & this is not an ABB affirmation test. I just want to see if the numbers are different from the other poll running, where non-supporters are voting as well.

1. Kucinich in an ideal world,
but in the real world, I support Dean > Clark > Kerry in that order.

3. Sharpton or Edwards in the primary, in the general election
Edited on Fri Jan-30-04 05:25 PM by arissa
I could only vote for Sharpton or Edwards, or a ticket with Kucinich or Sharpton on it. Edwards as VP on another's ticket wouldn't be enough to get me on board, unless they promised Kucinich or Sharpton a senior cabinet position. Barring a ticket holding those names, I'll probably vote independent/Green. So sue me. I won't go into why I won't vote for the other possibilities so as not to turn this thread negative.

"Not voting for the Nominee" would've been better.

8. Prolly Green.
But can't say for sure. Either way, if Bush was going to kill us all he'd of done it by now, so the whole vote Dem. or you'll get spanked argument isn't flying with me.

9. this is better than your last version of this poll
but please realize the DK will be on ballot in most states even if he drops out. So no need to write in DK in primary.

The response missing is DK in primary, ABB in GE.

That should be an option. I won't need to write him in in primary even if he were to drop out which he wont.

10. only my primary vote will mean anything
I'm a Texan, so I could vote for Eugene Debs in the November election without changing the final results. So, it's DK in March, and whatever in November. If something happened and I couldn't vote for Dennis in the primary, I'd be heart-broken. I'd still vote for someone, but I don't know who and I'm not sure I'd care.

12. I voted other-
Because in or out I vote Kucinich in the primary. For the GE, I don't know what I'll do without Kucinich.*sigh* I don't even want to consider it.

14. DK in primary. After that...
I don't expect DK to be the nominee. Since Bush is very popular in my state, I may take the luxury of voting third party. If the race is close, I'll probably go for the nominee, even though there is none of them that I'd vote for in an ordinary election.

I hope people in states with late primaries, or states like Texas where Dubya is likely to be the winner, realize they have little or nothing to lose by voting for DK or third party candidates in the General Election, if you feel that those parties candidates are more in keeping with your own beliefs. I know way too many people who wanted to vote for Nader last time around, but out of fear, changed their vote and went for Gore. IIRC, Bush won the state by 10-12 points and Nader got fewer than 2 percent. I believe there was a lot of that last minute mind changing. We should all know by now that the electoral college is what decides the outcome.

15. Honestly, I haven't made the final decision about it...
... not like he's dropping out (because he won't) ... but if Kucinich does not get the nomination, it will be very difficult for me to manage to hold my nose for yet another election for the assurance of no representation.

I will not assert any alternate support for any candidate, since they all are too far away from my positions at present to say that I would support any one of them in the primary or GE. My inclination is to go write-in for the primary (if doubtfully needed) and Green in the GE. "Electability" is a myth we cannot afford right now; we need a CLEAR choice and Dennis Kucinich IS that choice.

With any of the others, we are not being adequately served (even though his positions are okay, Al Sharpton is not the man I want running America. I dig him, but there is too much that will have to be left to "advisors").

I am only still a Democrat because of Dennis Kucinich. Does that answer strongly enough?

18. Dennis Kucinich in the primary. In the GE, it

all depends on who the nominee is. This is my tenth presidential election and the only candidate I ever really supported before was George McGovern. I had to force myself to vote for Gore at the last minute, and should have voted for Nader since Bush won Georgia, anyway.

If Kucinich is not our nominee, I'd probably vote for Kerry or Edwards, might vote for Clark, but would go Green rather than vote for Dean. I might vote Green in any case (unless DK is the nominee) if it looks as if our electoral votes will go to Bush again. That also will depend on how well the nominee runs his campaign.
