STUFFING THE BOX: FAUX NEWS
STUFFING THE BOX

We suspect, but cannot prove, that the folks at Fox News stuffed the ballot box in the NewsBlues overnight poll to determine our "2005 TV News Jerk of the Year" award.

Through much of yesterday, Fox cable news king Bill O'Reilly led the poll, followed closely by irritating CNN Headline News actress Nancy Grace. In fact, they threatened to pull away from MSNBC's equally irritating Rita Cosby in third place. Then it happened.

Sometime around mid-afternoon the poll turned, and MSNBC's brilliant (but little watched) Keith Olbermann, who has taken great enjoyment in publicly tweaking Fox News and Bill O'Reilly, suddenly began to move up...from last to first in a matter of hours.

When we closed the poll at 8 a.m., 2427 votes had been cast overnight. Keith Olbermann received 716 of them (30 percent). Rita Cosby finished second (25 percent of the votes). And Bill O'Reilly pulled in third (15%), barely edging out Nancy Grace (14%).

The most irritating of the ten nominees, CNBC's Jim Cramer, finished last with just 23 votes, because...we suspect...no one watches CNBC.

So, spin the numbers as you will; break them down by demographics or region or shoe size, Keith Olbermann is the official winner of our highly unscientific and absolutely worthless poll and is now the reigning "2005 TV News Jerk of the Year." The folks at Fox must be laughing in their beer.

2. Too bad DU didn't get their paws on this poll; the end results
would have been entirely different.

5. It wouldn't have made any difference if Faux stuffed the ballot box.

6. Yeah. I'm sure they asked Diebald for help
so even if everyone had voted for O'Liely, they would have changed their votes to Keith.
