College rallies shift to the right
Protests on college campuses are becoming more sophisticated and more often staged by conservative students.

Some conservatives say activism is growing because of a national network reaching out to students who've felt too threatened in the past to speak up on liberal campuses.

"The tides are turning on college campuses," said Jason Mattera, spokesman for the conservative Young America's Foundation in Herndon, Va. "Conservative students will not take liberal garbage anymore."

.......

"It's a lot easier for the conservatives to be more provocative because they're in the minority," said Matt Ginsberg, president of Colorado University's College Democrats.

2. Total bull crap!
This article points to those idiotic anti-affirmative action bake sales held by repuke asswipes.

Are they really still doing that silly stuff?

If the tide is turning, it's turning against these stupid bush-licking jerks.

3. If there were talk about a draft in their future? -- They'd swing back to
the left so fast, they'd all end up with whiplash.

5. A good strong draft usually clears away the cobwebs, I mean conservatives
If Bushco proceeds with some of his crazier dreams of empire, how can he keep the military numbers up without a draft?

He could continue with the economic draft, which pretty much makes higher education out of reach of the lower economic strata, and make sure it stays that way by decreasing grants and low-interest loans for students. Want to learn a trade? Join the Army. Want money for college? Join the Army.

College could then return to what it was a century ago: a place for privileged youth, who have little incentive to question their parents' politics because it works for them.

OTOH, if recruitment keeps lagging, Bush could still be faced with the decision to institute a draft or pull back some of his plans for foreign adventures. And a college-age draft means conservative students have to rethink their OWN worldview.

8. I wonder if these "College Repukes" are pushing for
the military recruiters to have more access to the campus and THEIR membership list?

Nah . . .

10. Military Recruiters shouldn't need College Repuke membership lists
the college repukes should already be in the military.

Damn little hypocrites.

9. First off, these cowardly motherfuckers should enlist
so they can defend America. I am tired of seeing pathetic "Protest Warriors" at rallies, holding up "support the troops" signs. They say this war defends freedom, then why don't they get out there and actually defend this country that they claim to love?

And, secondly, how can they honestly claim, at the same time, that they are an oppressed minority on campuses, but yet they are turning the tide and "rejecting the liberal lies".

11. I see the same thing. - In short what's happening is that the
right wing nuts are being drowned by common sense on the College campus today and the Republicans can't handle the fact that no one will listen to a Lynne Cheney or a William Bennett any longer than 15 seconds.

Remember how these two were running around to the Universities that had ROTC programs before the invasion of Iraq, and cheer leading junior and the Neocon?

13. Yeah, that's the thing about higher education
suddenly, as you become exposed to more and learn more about critical thinking, you just aren't as vulnerable to the right wing BS. Funny how that works...

I haven't really met a Liberal in my area in over 10 years. They may be here, but they're too afraid to reveal their party affiliation.

16. Saw a bumper sticker yesterday at Target:
Students for Bush! No More Flip-Flops!

Siiiiiiiiiiiiiggggh.

Robert Tyner and Fred "Sonic" Smith would be rolling over in their graves at this stupidity.

Pauline Kael once said that part of growing up is getting a bullshit detector. Evidently, these "Chickens for Frank Perdue" haven't found one and the prospects are looking bleak. YeeeeHAW, let's support a guy who's a-gonna saddle me with an 8 trillion dollar debt, cut education funding and continue to enable corporations that offshore the positions I'm GETTING this stupid piece of paper for!
