So: The "president" signs secret orders to allow electronic eavesdropping (ok spying) on US citizens. The New York Times releases it's story AFTER sitting on it for over a year and AFTER top NY Times officials have a meeting with the "president" who urges them not to release the story.
Here's my question(s): since when does Government of the United States feel it has the ability to dictate when, where, and how a story regarding illegal activity of the government should be released to the Amercan people? Since when does the press of the United States feel so obligated to the Government that it actually sits still lonmg enough to even listen to such requests from the Government? Who owns who in this country these days?

We did have some checks on their power post FDR - but those were the good old days.
