How many non-Dean supporters are sickened by his media 'assasination'?
It's turned my stomach AND infuriated me, frankly, and it also makes me very afraid of what they will do to whoever is the frontrunner. :scared::grr:

1. Here's my worry: "Last man standing" will be our nominee
- the media firing squad will destroy each front-runner, one by one. Then in the election they will combine with Bush's hundreds of millions and smash the last one. What can we do to stop it?
Thats it. I'll shut up now, and go back to working here for the Dem party.

2. I'm apathetic about it.
I truly do not care what happens to Dean. I worry enough about the attacks on candidates I do support to waste time on him. Anyone who's out in front is going to "get it" and it's only going to get worse. But I'll let people who actually care about Dean defend him.

19. It is that attitude which will slit our throats
and if you even try to say I haven't defended your candidate I will browse through those archives and find the several threads in which I did exactly and precisely that.

5. Me and Me and I
After how media treated Gore in 2000, I decided nothing was beyond them.

And then Cleland in 2002.

ALL OF US should try to figure out how to fight this 'drowning of the democrats' by the media.

Candidates should be constantly on guard and ready to counterattack AT ONCE....and we all 'drown' media in emails and phone calls.

How those who wallowed in this character assassination, escpecially those here on DU, now feel.

I said the whole thing was manufacured bull from the get go yet I was shocked at how many people bought into it.

7. Me...
Edited on Thu Jan-29-04 07:24 PM by Memekiller
...as I am over the GOP assassination of Clark. And as soon as the eventual nominee has it locked up, I'll be disgusted by the smear campaign that will be unleashed on them, too.

It's a fact of life: the GOP has a media arm in place that will nuke any non-republican candidate. It's going to happen. (I'm still looking at these "before" and "after" photos of Kerry on Drudge, trying to figure out what's different).

You just got to fight back hard, and harrass the reporters who do it.

(EDIT: Oh, I see the difference... all the before photos are of Kerry lifting his eyebrows so that his forehead is scrunched.)

Those who can stand up under scrutiny survive. Look at Clinton. Anyone think HE had it easy in the primaries?

I should add as a caveat, that I am sick of it, but it will only get worse for Dean, or any of our nominees, as they go along.

marginalization and ridicule in the news, and the way the media follows right wing attack plans.

12. First they came for the Deaniacs

Then the Clark Bars. When they finally came for the scary Kerry's there was no one to speak up.

Honestly the experience has made me bitter to the point I have come to accept that our country is doomed and we are collectively so stupid that we deserve the kind of bad government and culture that we have bought ourselves. I am quickly becoming a spectator.

In fact I think this post will be my new sig line.

14. I don't like what they're focused on with Dean...the "process" stories.
I think there was plenty wrong in his record and in his statements that should have received attention all last year. REAL journalists would have dealt with.

Gotcha "process" reporters are sickening.

The same ones who declared Kerry's candidacy dead for months.

Edited on Thu Jan-29-04 07:56 PM by wroberts189
(my theory is) They want Kerry as nominee because he won't rock the boat if Bush loses.

Kerry has not rocked the boat since Nam.

They ignore Kucinich. and Edwards., they malign the character of Clark., and they misrepresent Dean. What about Kerry? A few attacks but I see so FOCUSED effort by the major media (Fox,cnn, nbc, abc) like with the others.

Just look at the recent suspiciously lame attack by the RNC..

http://www.csmonitor.com/2004/0130/p01s01-uspo.html

The repubs are nervous in this election. Kerry is easy to beat because he is boring and uninspiring. The media have been instructed
to spin that he is the "most electable" while they promote the idea
that that's "what everyone wants"...hence his rise. At the same time they collectively destroy Dean over NOTHING.

Meanwhile the repubs know that if Kerry wins he will be just like he is now as a Senator... not there voting half the time and not writing any bills. They will continue the plundering under his watch ..just like they have been doing now in the Senate.

If Dean wins it will be hell on earth for them. This is why the media
has helped Rove trick everyone into thinking Dean is what they want..

This media disgusts me. Everything has a wingnut tinge and slant.

18. I could spit nails
I'm so fucking mad!

I'm a Clark supporter but those spineless weenies at the play-it-safe DNC only woke up when The Doctor spoke out and the people and the media took notice. Now the DNC/DLCers model themselves after Dean as they simultaneously try to kick him to the curb.

Kerry is trying to steal Dean's thunder and sound like him but I will never forget how he, Lieberman (please go away) and Gephardt piled on Dean in Iowa.

The media is despicable and wholly owned by Bushco. We have got to get our message out in other ways and get grassroots guys in power.

On a side note, is it me or does Kerry come across as too packaged ?

The botox thing will be the take away from this debate for the next few weeks - count on it. Great visuals as they paste Kerry's face at the debate today and in the past and chat on and on about it, before cutting to the latest Michael Jackson news.

I'm not a big Dean fan, but I'm sick and tired of these corporate whores - and Dean's gotten the shaft from them - second only to Kucinich, who has been the major target of corporate media neglect and ridicule.

It's too bad that Dean fans on DU spent so much time attacking Dennis last year ...
