1. IMHO you are dreaming about McCain
McCain and the fundies are just tools for * and his neocons. I would believe Bolton before McCain....

3. The RW Fundies,
would have a cow if McCain replaced Cheney. They hate him. I can't much stand him either, but they hate him. He went to Virginia and called out Falwell and Robertson and said that Religious Right had hi-jacked the Republican party. He was right, of course, but the RWingers HATE him. If Cheney is replaced, hope it's McCain, because he will run in the primaries and get his ass kicked. A moderate Republican, IMHO, will NEVER again be the nominee of the Republican party.

17. I don't know many in the Religious Right...
who like him. Most I know can't stand him. Limbaugh hates his guts, and I KNOW Falwell and Robertson don't like him either. If the Religious Right doesn't ordain you, it's pretty damned hard to win in Republican circles. IMHO, that's the biggest problem we have in this country. If we could get the Giuliani's (pro-choice, pro-guntrol) back in charge of the Republican party, we might have a chance to marginalize the fundies. I don't want Giuliani elected. But, if it has to be a Republican, Giuliani and McCain, IMHO, would be a hell of a lot better than the neo-cons in charge of things now. The moderate Repukes need to take back control of their party from the criminal neo-cons in charge---but, IMHO, it won't happen.

6. If Cheney were to go out, I believe either of two people would be named...
Edited on Sun Nov-20-05 09:11 PM by tx_dem41
first guess, George Allen of Va. (the danger there is giving up a Senate seat). The second is Condeleeza Rice.

And while I'm at it....George Allen will be the 2008 Republican nominee. Book it. You can get great odds in Vegas. Thank me later. :)

8. If the country shifted enough to the center
McCain would have a chance.

I don't know if Iraq, Katrina, and gas prices were enough to shift the country back to the center.

11. But McCain ISN'T in the Center
He's a Right-Wing mouthbreather. He's NOT a Moderate, people should check out his voting record.

Big deal, he's doing the Anti-Torture Bill in the Senate...but McCain is a black hat, he's not a white hat...the McCain is a Moderate garbage is just mediawhore propaganda.

The man's a Right-Wing tool, his voting record is very similar to Rick Santorum's.

Also in 2008 McCain would be 72...he looks 82 RIGHT NOW...he's too old and I suspect he's not even playing with a full deck.

McCain Follow-Up
by Matt Stoller

There were some fabulous comments on my earlier post about John McCain. You should read them. Here are some things people brought up:

* John McCain voted to convict Clinton on two counts.

* John McCain supports teaching creationism in schools.

* John McCain supports a ban on gay marriage and civil unions.

* John McCain is strongly anti-choice.

* John McCain is strongly pro-war and defends this administration's conduct whenever possible.

Now one thing to keep in mind is that McCain is the Chair of the Committee on Indian Affairs, and has the means and ability to leak and sink Jack Abramoff and his ilk, since they dislike him intensely. McCain might even be conducting a little house cleaning in the party to get rid of the corruption, so he can run in 2008 on a clean government platform.

Don't be fooled. This guy's as partisan and vicious as they come.

That's McCain's Right-Wing record.

Hey, for posting this, I'm going to name my firstborn after you ;)

On Edit: Heck, you know that I think McCain's a Right-Wing fruitloop...I HOPE poster number 8 who seemed to suggest that McCain was a Moderate, I HOPE they read about what he voted for too.

21. But he didn't hae the balls to call out GW and his vicious
attack machine in South Carolina....

Any respect for that man went right out the door when he didn't defend the honor of his wife and adopted children....

And when he back Bush.... I about puked... The guy just play acts at being maverick.... It's a show so he can write a book now and then and go on The Daily Show and Letterman and pretend that there is a division in the GOP ranks...

12. Howdy Doody Allen
Another fake Southerner (born and bred in California) and he's as stupid as Junior when you actually hear him say like...more than six sentences.

They'd go for Condi if they're going to go for anybody to replace Cheney.

I've been saying as well, that the Repuke 2008 candidate is going to be Howdy Doody Allen and I'll further predict he'll pick Governor Bill Owens of Colorado as his Veep candidate.

We can take them, Allen's another dumb ass and Owens wife left him when she suspected he was banging the nanny...but the wife later returned probably because the Repukes gave her money...ala Governor Goodhair's wife after his "Geoffrey" rumor.

Warner/Edwards...Edwards/Warner...Clark/Warner...Warner/Clark...Edwards/Clark...Clark/Edwards...can take Allen/Owens and take them right out to the woodshed.

19. My guesses would be
Elizabeth Dole or Kay Bailey Hutchison unless Bush wants McCain to follow him, and in that case it would be McCain.

20. no one ever mentions Dick Lugar
and I don't know why. He would probably step out of the way for another nominee in '08. Mitch Daniels is IN governor now and would probably appoint Dan Coates to replace him. Lugar has been sucking up bigtime to Bush.

9. I have a vague suspicion that might be the case, too
Either Cheney will be indicted or he'll leave due to health reasons and to spend more time with his family blah blah blah.

I'm not sure McCain will be picked for the #2 slot, though. I think they'll pick a milquetoasty, likelier one to pardon the whole of Bushco and then be defeated in the primaries by Jebbie. Ma Bush wants Jebbie to take over, it's written all over her, and what Ma Bush wants, her family tries to get.

16. On Tweety's Sunday show, David Brooks said McCain has become
popular with conservatives in the mid-west. They are now very keen on him, and would like him to be President as long as he has Condee on the ticket with him in '08. Tweety asked Brooks if McCAin had become a "Bushee" and Brooks said, "Looks that way." Brooks said it was good political stategy. Tweety disagreed.

(Looks like the Repubs want to have another "National Security Ticket" with these warhawks. My question is would the public realize we have become LESS SAFE from this war that McCain and Condee have promoted? In reality, this is NOT a National Security Ticket.)

18. McCain won't be chosen to replace Cheney
And here's why: Janet Napolitano. If McCain becomes VP Napolitano would appoint a Dem to replace him. With the ineptness of Lizzy Dole the Dems already have a shot at taking back the Senate changing the dynamics from 55-45 to 54-46 would make Schumer's job a little easier

22. Bush's ego would not tolerate a McCain.
They'll put in some reliably conservative GOP non-entity--a Gerald Ford type without alot of personal ambition.

With McCain as Veep Bush is toast.
