My RW brother is up to his old, lame tricks again
Sent me the long-debunked Robin Williams "diatribe" about what to do about terrorism.

I "accidentally" hit "reply all" and sent a note that it was debunked by snopes, plus the little tidbit that I actually got to see him live and that the only true part was the Statue of Liberty quote.

After sending it off, I realized that I should have added this thought:

"If, as you say, Robin Williams said this, then you missed the rest of his act, because he really trashed Bush. Plus, when have you started listening to celebrities (and just how did Ben Stein become a bastion of sensibility?) for your 'factual information'?"

2. Bingo!!!
You might get some angry growls out of the Reply All!!! - voice of experience here - I respond to those angry growls sometimes, because they responded to my initial mistake, which I might not have minded, except that they usually said I should shut the F - - up.

14. If I get spew like this I ALWAYS hit "reply all".
If they are going to send me LIES, I make damn sure I let these idiots know the TRUTH!

Usually, only one or two try to respond to me, and my simple argument is that if they don't want me to reply, they should stop spreading such crap/lies in the first place, and I will NEVER hide from a good fight.

It usually stops after a couple forceful responses from me.

Don't EVER be shy about hitting "reply all".

Sometimes it's the ONLY way to get the TRUTH out!

8. Yeah, I've had a similar experience.
I got that moronic e-mail claiming that members of Congress did not pay into Social Security. A friend of mine forwarded it, and I e-mailed back that I'd read it was a hoax. I decided to send the same heads-up to the person who apparently was the source for the forwarding.

Well. You would think I had insulted her entire family. I got a really nasty e-mail back in which she defended her patriotism (I hadn't said a word about her patriotism, just about the nature of the e-mail).

Part of me almost wishes I'd told her it was much easier to hit the "forward" button than it was to research an anonymous e-mail. But that would have really set her off.

17. I debunked that pretty easily. I went to Congress' website
and they had it all laid out with the statutes and everything when I got the SS email.

Then this weirdo at the fair tried to tell me that a Congressman told him that they did not pay into social security.

18. So far, not a peep.
Either I was too vague for them, or they can't be bothered.

I wonder, though, about the one who came up to me and my brother-in-law (not my RW brother, but a hunter, still) and invaded our conversation with RW talking points. I wonder if she is in the list . . .

5. eh - I did this once, the reply to all
I got to cut my address book in half that auspicious day, and I don't regret it at all.

The very funniest thing was that one of the lurkers, a paralegal with a San Jose law firm, didn't like my replies (which actually were quite tame for me). She sent me screamer after screamer, finally turning into threats of burning down my house, liberating me from my employment, etc., and then sent an email to my company's legal address to report me for using work resources and being a lihihihihiiiiiberal.

Well you see, as it turns out, I am the boss of me. So I had my legal people send a printout of her invective to her law firm, all five physical addresses, and that's the last we ever heard of her, as she was promptly liberated from her employment.

A couple of days later my straight republican ("where is the love") trainer said he was terribly angry I'd gotten his friend fired, so I showed him the email trail - and he still was furious with me.

Ducky boy, you can defend your homo-cidal ball snapping girlthing friend in San Jose, but I have to defend me first - so we parted company, along with his contingent of righteous "friends".

Oh, the conversation was about the evil wicked cowardly French, who they knew everything about from watching the Four Feathers. The Malkin-esque creature (???) in San Jose hoped a nuclear bomb would destroy Paris since they had invaded her great great great grandparents homeland of French Indochina (sorry), but it was the "queers shouldn't be allowed to get married" comment that sealed the deal for me. Hate the french, hate the fags, hate the liberals, hate that there aren't enough things to hate.

These people LOVE TO HATE. Everything. Do not fuck with their moments of hate. Hate is pure. Hate is good. Hate is all they are. If they could take a picture of it and put it in their purse and take it out and look at it every time they felt the hate was flowing away, they would have a whole econo size god damn photo album up in their purse.

10. She wanted to get your fired, but you got her fired instead?? LOL!!
She deserved it.

We need to do this kind of thing and stop taking sh-t. Stand up to the bullies!

Obviously, one has to be careful about how to respond to them, don't leave a paper trail full of obscenities and threats.

13. That's beautiful. As for Fr. Indochina, perhaps she would have preferred
the "uberpatriots" of the USA had gotten their way in the 60's/70's and just nuked the place. That's their solution to everything.

11. Reply to all
got me one hell of a shrew saying she hoped she'd see me on TV as a human shield in Iraq. This was followed by GOD BLESS AMERICA several times.

This was in response to my reply to some chain e-mail where I said Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11.

Idiot.

19. I got one of those once..
.. and just kept sending the increasingly bizarre emails around to everybody on the first "reply all" list. The crazier they sound, the fewer people on that list continue to support her. Who knows... they may learn that their side has most of the crazies.

20. "Reply All" takes alot of people OFF your mailing lists!
I, too, hit "reply all" when I receive crap like this and answer with Snopes or another de-bunking e-mail.

I then add my own "I can't believe people forward these kinds of things to others before they check to see if they are true or not"

Needless to say, my inbox is alot emptier than it used to be but I don't care.
