3. Yeah. Seems he only recognizes a conflict
when someone else spots it. And, since they didn't, he didn't. Once they did, he did. So what's the problem, eh?

5. Alito doesn't think it's stealing if the cash-register is left unlocked
If the computer doesn't flag a conflict of interest... it's not a conflict of interest... even if Alito already said it was a conflict of interest in prior sworn testimony.

he still fought to stay on the case

After Alito ruled in Vanguard's favor in the Maharaj case, he complained about her efforts to vacate his decision and remove him from the case, writing to the chief administrative judge of the federal appeals court on which he sat in 2003: ''I do not believe that I am required to disqualify myself based on my ownership of the mutual fund shares."
