Alice Walker, author of The Color Purple, quickly objected when Tavis Smiley compared her to Condoleeza Rice.

"I find it very objectionable because she is someone that has helped the president actually bomb people, kill people, starve people..."

11. He was trying to compare the fact that Rice is often criticized by other

blacks and Walker is also sometimes criticized by other blacks to suggest to ponder what it must feel like to be black and have other blacks attack you. Alice Walker made clear that those who attacked her were wrong and usually had never read any of her books that they complained about while Rice, on the other hand, was complicit in war and death - the two situations aren't comparable.

She was great.
