For those interested in current revelations
about U.S. involvement in use of torture:
you may be interested in checking out the writings and activities of
Jennifer Harbury, a human rights lawyer and director of the Stop Torture Permanently (STOP) Campaign. You may remember her efforts in the wake of her husband's secret detention and death by torture that led to an official disclosure that his killers were Guatemalan intelligence officers serving as paid CIA informants. Ms. Harbury brought suit against the US government, argued her case before the US Supreme Court, won a claim in the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, and investigated links between U.S. intelligence networks and Latin American death squads. She is the author of multiple books, including “Truth, Torture, and the American Way: The History and Consequences of U.S. Involvement in Torture,” and has been involved in presenting Citizens' Trials of Don Rumsfeld, Alberto Gonzales, and George Tenet for violations of international and US law.

The process she went through to collect info. for her lawsuits will probably be instructive for those who would like to know more about how the CIA operations have morphed into the black prisons we are reading about today.
