Time for a national plebiscite on abortion.
All the polls indicate that a clear majority of Americans--anywhere from 60-70+%--support abortion rights. The fundie minority has succeeded in hijacking the government on this important issue. I think it's time to call for a national plebiscite--a non-binding vote--on abortion rights. Let's let those who claim to represent us in Washington know, unequivocally, how we feel.

1. "An Up or Down Vote"
Yeah, that's the ticket.

2. and we lose?
Better to lose Row vs Wade and have individual states deal with this issue than a national ban on abortion.

4. We wouldn't lose.
I just said that a clear majority of Americans support abortion rights. A plebiscite is a non-binding issue vote--time to make our voices heard.

3. Good idea! I think a lot of people are not aware that Pro-Choice
is the majority opinion. I would also like to see the term "Pro-Life" changed to "Anti-Choice". It's pretty obvious, when you study their agenda, that they are not really for life unless it's before birth or when you are in a permanent vegetative state. They are, however, against a woman's right to choose. They're so good at lables, they should use one that is more truthful for themselves.

6. While the majority may support choice. in reality the majority
doesn't vote. (Not to mention the elections are rigged.)

I'm not willing to sacrifice the right of autonomy over my body to some national experiment with unscrupulous "leaders" firing up their base while the "uninspired" and "unconcerned" sit on their asses hoping someone else will take care of the vote for them. No way. No how.

7. They may be pro choice but I would bet with limits
Banning late term abortions, parental conscent, and banning abortions for the like of sex selection to name three examples, all poll quite well.

9. Indeed. That seems to be the case that actually few support absolute
abortion rights just as few support it being completely outlawed. People generally favor it being legal, but with restrictions.
