4. They all do it
"God Bless America"

"God Bless You All"

"God Bless us all & God Bless America"

Must be the signal for the press to know that a politician is done speaking.

5. Not sure I've heard that exact phrasing before.
Edited on Tue Nov-01-05 10:56 AM by Dunvegan
"God bless America" certainly...and "God bless us all" perhaps.

But "God bless you all"?

That almost sounds like it's the populace that needs the blessing regarding this isssue...not W, et. al.

And I agree, the phrasing does contain (especially in the context of a speech regarding a possible deadly worldwide pandemic) as perhaps just another fear-mongering tactic from the administration.

"God bless you all" is quite a bit more discomforting than "God bless America" OR ""God bless us all."

7. You all = Y'all
It's a southern-speak thing.

I agree in this particular context it could have been used intentionally -- both as fear-mongering and as another attempt to make Bush appear as the 'gold ol boy'.

10. He deserves to wear a condom as a hat.
It would be a lot more suitable than a Bishop's miter, IMO.

15. Yeah--he's a phony "southerner".
To show you just how badly wingnuts' minds are dominated by the trivial (instead of by important issues such as the fraudulent war), that was one of the few times I managed to penetrate a (southern) wingnut's slavish devotion to *: I reminded her that he was a "damn yankee".

16. This is his coded way to let the "base" know that, in spite of..
everything, God still speaks thru him.
Meanwhile letting those in the room know that * is protecting them.

Personally, I always thought God's best work was channeled thru Stevie Ray Vaughan.
