Talked to my cousin down there today and they have no food, no water, and long long gas lines. That must be the governor of Louisiana's fault, I guess.
Both Jeb and his brother should resign

1. Hurricane Kate in 1985
in Tallahassee we were without power about two weeks, including Thanksgiving.

It's no fun.

5. And you are
saying Tallahassee is not a major city? It's the capital of the state?

Just kidding, we are pretty podunk. But we are the capital.

11. I wonder why it is taking so long?
Maybe it is because of the work still being done in LA and Texas?

15. Hey tallahassee grannie, just got back
from the game. GO Noles. It was a great homecoming; always enjoy seeing the Seminole tribe representatives in their native clothing there with the homecoming court.

7. Jeb Fat Boy also said...
That people should've heeded the warnings and gotten the preparations for 3 days (which is what they recommend).

My questions for Fat Boy are these:

1) Where do the mass numbers of Florida destitute and poor get the money to gather all which is necessary for 3 days of no electricity, water, etc? From the sky? As he sits on his fat Bush ass living well off our taxes, there are people in Florida who work for minimum wage, barely made it day to day in non-hurricane times, and some days had no money at all to make it.

2) How the hell does Fat Boy's recommended 3 days of preparation prepare one for 1 month of no electricity, well over 5 days of no running water, and FEMA never showing up with water?

3) Why doesn't he shut the hell up? He's sounding almost as irritatingly stupid as his brother.

16. my cousin has a generator but they are having trouble getting
gasoline for it. Wonder why we didn't have these problems last year after the hurricanes in Florida? COULD THERE HAVE BEEN AN ELECTION OR SOMETHING????

17. After going through the 3 hurricanes last year, I have to ask that same
question. Several towns didn't have electricity for a month. THe harder hit ones. But it was no CAT1 hurricane that hit those areas either.

3. what i dont understand, is why
dont they invest in underground power lines? sure they are more expensive to put in at first, but after replacing the overhead lines several times, where’s the savings?

6. Most of our subdivisions
in Tallahassee have underground utilities and we rarely go down. However, when the big lines go during the storms, so do we. They are along the highways.

I don't understand why all utilities everywhere aren't underground. They are so ugly, too.

18. From what I understand
according to my boyfriend in Miami, is since that part is below sea level or barely above sea level, it is very dangerous. Imagine if water got into the electricity system? ><

Im not saying its a good idea. I asked the same question.

I'm in W. Palm Beach close to the south city limits and we got our power bout 4:00 this afternoon. It's a miracle.

12. Oh, I remember that feeling
when the power goes on. The house comes to life like a living being.

Good times.

Take a hot bath!

And don't be surprised if it goes off and on a few more times. When they are working on it sometimes that happens.

14. Probably
only 1/2 of the residential areas of NOLA have power currently.

I know my dad's condo won't have power until after Thanksgiving...

19. Great Caesar's ghost! Parts of New Orleans were back up faster than that!
specifically, the section called Algiers on the West Bank, which had wind damage but no flooding.

After Jeb! resigns, he should head right down to West Palm and start pedaling one of those bicycle generator things. He could stand to lose fifteen pounds or so anyway.

20. Checking in from Boca
Just got our phone back this afternoon. Still no power. Gas lines are ridiculous! We prepared like nobody's business, but ice doesn't last forever and cold showers are a real drag. They don't even know we're here.

I know there's a rich side and a poor side (which supplies the servants for the rich side.) Is the rich side without power till 11/?!?

22. Keep in mind that those are just estimates...
After Katrina we were told it could take a month before power would be restored ,but it was back in just two weeks. It really depends on if there was damage to the substations. If their substations are damaged, then it realistically could be a long time before the lights come on.
