My Rove/Libby/Rove weaslin' out of perjury theory.
So here we go. Another fucking theory, but hey - it's fun to speculate, right?

- Rove's 4th appearance before the Grand Jury followed a deal. In that deal, Rove agreed to rat out Scooter Libby for a possible reduced indictment.

- Rove rats out Scooter. Scooter sinks, also realizing that his letter to Judy Miller wasn't such a bright idea. Scooter kicks the drywall of his office hard and breaks a bone his foot.

- Rove's lawyers, sensing now that an indictment still lurks for Rove (perjury) are now trying to weasel his way out it. Further, they start a talking point offensive (AKA Kay Bailey's MTP bungle) that perjury is a "lesser charge" that doesn't have much merit.

- Meanwhile, Fitz is using every available day left with his grand jury to make sure his decisions to indict stick. He's operating on only one time frame - his own.

Of course my lack of law degree and any REAL experience in politics permit me omniscience (huh-huh-huh) but those are my thoughts.

Thoughts? Discussion points?

1. The only way Rove can get off is to plea and tell
He will be indicted for perjury at the least, although something tells me he won't be indicted for leaking. Libby will be indicted for leaking and perjury. I see both Libby and Rove getting indictments tomorrow if Fitz has a case and Luskin doesn't get Rove a good plea.

2. You gotta love some political gamers getting schooled
by the textbook prisoner's dilemma.

4. OMG you are very much on target
I hadn't thought about the prisoner's dilemma, but that precisely is what Fitz did here, isn't it?

Beautiful tactic to use on mafiosa types, no?

3. The talking point offensive doesn't mitigate the crime
If Rove is indicted for perjury he is toast. Fitz wouldn't do it if he couldn't pull it off.
