ABC News Breaking: Bush Says He Won't Release Miers Records
WASHINGTON Oct 24, 2005 — President Bush said Monday that he will not release any records of his conversations with Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers that could threaten the confidentiality of the advice that presidents get from their lawyers.

"That would breech very important confidentiality, and it's a red line I'm not willing to cross," Bush said.

Both Republicans and Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee are demanding more documents on Harriet Miers, including from her work at Bush's counsel.

"People can learn about Harriet Miers through hearings, but we are not going to destroy this business about people being able to walk into the Oval Office to say, Mr. President, this is my advice," Bush said after a meeting with his cabinet.

6. what is he hiding? government is supposed to be open
anyway, it's not "all or nothing" - that's an arbitrary red line that he's pretending to stand behind.

Dishonesty is not the way to seat an effective supreme court justice George. Anyway, the old girl is down and she's not gonna make it.

You may as well pull her feeding tube now . . .

25. There's something rotten in the White House
What is it that the Republicans always say when Dem's refuse to answer questions? WHERE THERE IS SMOKE THERE IS FIRE. G.W is just fanning the smoke in the publics eye's.

As I understand it She and G.W. can not stand on Attorney Client confidentiality. She was not acting in a legal capacity at the time, those conversations took place.

7. Will the Senate get a spine and say No records no hearings?
This is unbelievable how damn dumb this regime is, they are so far under, and they just keep doing business as usual.
Secret nominees, cronies in high places, refuse to release records pertinent to proceedings..

:wtf:????????

8. Doubtful, since they did not do so for John Roberts
However, I would welcome the wavering repukes to use it as an excuse to vote against the nomination.

11. When even WH sees Miers flunking the Committee this will be the excuse
When even the White House sees Miers flunking the Committee this will be the excuse they use for withdrawing her nomination.

13. Hell no, hearings could be VERY illuminating
By all means, lets have hearings. We can ask about burying his TANG records, creating the new driver's license and all sorts of things.

We should let this simmer and calmly expose lie after lie.

9. BS--Those are THE PEOPLE's records!
I think the GOP persecution of Clinton proved that, right? That's why they said they were doing it at the time.

The Hypocrite Party is running this country into a black hole.

if she was applying for a bus boy job, lack of verifiable records or references would be grounds for not hiring.

16. Transcript
Transcript of GWB and Harriet from earlier this year.

Miers: Oh George, I think you’re sooooooooooo dreamy.

Bush: Why shucks, Harry, you know that’s why I keep you ‘roun’. You tell me just what I wanna hear.

Miers: Georgie-poo, I think torturin’ those savages is just so – so Manly. It really turns me on that you want our big strong ‘murkhin boys to humiliate them like that.

Bush: So that’s a go on the torture thing?

Miers: Of course, Gonzo and I have it all worked out for ya.

Bush: Great. You do such a great job, harry. You deserve a big ol’ prize. How ‘bout me nominating you for the Supreme Court?

Miers: (Claps hands!) Really? You mean it? Oh Georgie. That would be just swell! I think those black robes are just sooo cute.

Bush: Why shore, harry. And it’d get pickles off’n my back ‘bout having a women for the old SC. But there’s a big issue that mighten be a problem: how ‘bout abortion? I know you ain’t against it after your having one and helping my daughters as well as some of my other – ah – friends through their ordeals. But you know those fundies hate that. No killin’ ‘em until after they’re born, ya know.

Miers: Why George! Of course I had to have one - and help with those others - ‘cause you know I don’t know nuthin’ ‘bout birthin’ no babies!!

Bush: hahaha – you crack me up, harry. But what are we gonna tell people?

Miers: Nothin. If people think I used ta be Catholic they’ll think I’m not for it anyways. And the fundies love that I “converted” to that ecumenical church.

Bush: Ecu what church? Oh never mind. As long as they buy it.

Miers: Whatever you want me to say, georgie, you know I’ll do it for you…….. though I think that new trick Karl taught me about “disinformation” might just work.

Bush: Speaking of Karl, what d’you think about the whole Joe flame mess?

Miers: Oh don’t worry bout that. Karl told me he had it all taken care of. He and dick and scooter have it all worked out – they’re going to blame it all on that miller girl or something.

Bush: hm ‘k. well, then. You better hit those books, gal. you know they’re gonna grill ya good on that there constitutional law. I’m gonna go take MY constitutional now. Haw haw haw……

Miers: Oh georgiepoo…….. you’re so funny. (SIGH)…….

21. well, maybe she get by....it's win win
the chimp-in-charge must truly despise america, truly. if meirs gets confirmed, he shake his head in contempt for such a goofy outfit (congress, the senate) while if she forced to withdraw, he puts a real nazipoo up who'll slide in easily and meanwhile wasted weeks of mediawhore time, which otherwise might get too focused, on....the cleaning lady hahaha...
