ok.......Cheney Has Resigned......

Sorry......didnt meant to give you a heart attack or is a knee attack?

Let say this week Fitzgerald returns indictments on Rove,Libby a few other government officials and ole Pacemaker himself...Dick Cheney...

Now that would mean that the Shrubster would have to choose a new VP...

Whos he going to choose or would shrubby follow his puppetmasters lead and quit also?

until Ford was approved. the Speaker didn't serve as VP then

10. A bit of trivia that will REALLY date me
32 years ago Tuesday I had my B-day, and there was NO VP just yet. We were technically between Agnew and Ford. How is that for a claim to fame?!?

12. Right.
Then when Ford became pResident, there wasn't a VP until Nelson Rockefeller was approved. Ford later selected Bob Dole as his running mate in 1976.

37. "P.S. No more public scatology"
This was at the bottom of a long ago note from the Shrub to Harry that was released last week.

All I know is that it must be some sort of inside joke. But if he misspelled "eschatology", it becomes very scary.

There was a good thread on this last week. Do a search on "eschatology".

19. yep-- the line of succession only comes into play...
...if the president AND vice president are removed from office. As long as Bush is in the seat, the VP slot can be unoccupied-- although he would obviously be under pressure to appoint someone to avoid the possibility of a line of succession replacement if anything were to happen to HIM.

I'm pretty sure he was the Minority Leader. Everybody in the House and Senate liked him. That is why he became VP without any opposition.

Keep the top posts in the hands of insiders, and groom a massively polarizing candidate for 2008. Bush is NOT going to go outside his inner circle for a new VP. Especially not with Rove on ice.

36. I don't think Asscrotch wants anything to do with these idiots anymore.
He couldn't run fast enough, once it was clear that Chimpy was going to get away with stealing the election.

I remember speculation that he was quitting in order to become a Supreme Court pick, but Junior's picked two now, and he wasn't either of them. And dare I say, better qualified than either. So I really think Crisco Johnny and his eagles are soaring as far away from the Bush Criminal Empire as they can. Maybe Asscrotch didn't truly recognize the depths of their evil when he signed on with them?

Edited on Sun Oct-16-05 10:06 PM by Gman
I don't think that would bother Asscrack in the least considering what happened to Mel Carnahan and what he and his people will do to win an election.

Of course, history recorded that Asscrack lost his election to a dead man.

45. No, that's not what I meant.....
I think Asscrotch, for what it's worth, really is a Christian (albeit a right wing Dominionist one) and believes he's going to be held accountable to God for the crimes committed by this Fraudministration, if he continues to be a part of them and at the very least an accomplice, if not a willing participant.

I'm guessing Johnny bought the Kool Aid of 9-11 and therefore believed in his own way that the Patriot Act was neccessary. I'm not defending his viewpoint here, but rather guessing at what his perspective was.

Once the truth came out about Iraq being all bullshit, Abu Ghraib, etc. Asscrotch probably figured that the voters would bring an end to this and let him off the hook. He did, as you say, lose his own last election to a dead man, after all.

So when Ohio (and once again Florida) were blatantly manipulated into a Bush "win", Crisco Boy knew he had to bail before Satan showed up with the calico cat brigades to claim his soul

52. If Smirk's approval ratings were higher, that would be a lock, however
McCain must know that right now, Smirk is polling in the toilet, but other Republicans (especially McCain) are polling to wipe the floor with the Dems in 2008. McCain agreeing to be Smirk's VP might destroy his chances to run in 2008... or... it might get Smirk's poll numbers back to "reasonable" or even "positive", at least for awhile.

Since the far right is hacked at Smirk over Miers, I'm not sure there's any pluses for McCain other than the supposed plus of running as the sitting VP, which is actually a minus...

Interesting question (the same way a train wreck is interesting)...

53. Probably won't be any currently elected politician
If he gave the job to Jeb there's a very good chance that they'd lose Florida in a special election to replace him.

Same goes for any Republican politician currently in office. Move one of them up to VP and risk losing a senate/congress seat or state Governor.

Their best option would probably be to pick Lieberman. The Republicans stand virtually no chance of winning a race in Connecticut with *'s approval there down at 36% so they lose nothing by appointing him.

They could gain a lot though. With Lieberman as VP * is able to appear to be a uniter whilst at the same time they can attach blame for any number of future problems at his doorstep and use it against the whole party in 2008.
