I've noticed a change on the open internet boards.
I post over at Huffington and Think Progress. I have to admit that it's a gas mixing it up with the apologists that seem to gravitate to these 2 sites.

Anyway, I've noticed over the past few months a gradual decrease of Republican Groupthinkers posting at these places. Those that remain seem to be the absolute bottom of the critical thinking barrel. Only a masochist who enjoys getting intellectually flogged and humiliated could press on...there are a few, but the numbers seem to be progressively dwindling everyday.

I think the closed RW boards, like Freeperville, are probably the only refuge they can go to where they can share their common delusions...they sure aren't getting any love or understanding from the community of posters that seem to be growing in their harsh assessment of the Syndicate that's running the Republican Party today.

1. In addition, while this is pure speculation...
I'm willing to bet that the amount of new members of FR is also down...

So it's a change not just on the open boards, but the closed rightwing ones as well.

OT -- love the avatar. Pigpen rules.

4. Always have to tip my hat to those who recognize one of the
truely great white bluesmen of our time! He was the real deal....sad that his time to shine was so damn short....

I've been spending a lot of time over at HuffPo and Think Progress, the bad news is so addicting. But I'm getting a real kick out of the liberals who are showing no mercy to any Bushbot that tries to peddle the RNC talking points...I hope the Democrats are reading these boards and seeing how we turning our Lovelight on...:-)

2. Even the pro-war rallies are trying to go "non-political"
Edited on Wed Oct-12-05 01:22 PM by brainshrub
I wrote about it here:

www.brainshrub.com/apolitical-sot

The pro-war faction is hoping that at a "non-political" rally, hard questions about the nature of the Iraqi War can be ignored. Instead, it's all about how much they love their sons and daughters as they are shipped off to die. If ever there was a demonstration as to the lemming-like nature of conservative ideology, it's watching them at a "non-political" SOT rally.

Beware of people who invite you to a "non-political" SOT event. There is nothing apolitical about sending young people to their deaths. The Republicans have lost the argument, and now they want to disassociate "Support Our Troops" from the political context they created for it.

5. Yes they are taking a line from us
not understading the concept

hate the war, support the warrior.

8. I agree......it's just not on anonymous internet boards either.
People are no longer afraid to voice an opinion that is clearly anti-war. I think we've reached a tipping point where those who tow the Republican line are becoming an increasingly minority opinion. That impacts positively on the progressive/liberal message. You can support the troops by getting them the hell out of that sinkhole. Those who hide behind the "Support the Troops" in order to prop up this little dictator, are being called out as the anti-American stooges that they are.

It's about friggen' time, too.

10. I don't think the majority ever wanted war.
They just stayed quiet with all the hype about WMDs.

13. Hope people read this article brainshrub
Nice job.

Very astute look at MLM and the marketing set up for the war. Thanks for pointing out the 'non political' nature of the SOT rallies...what a joke.

These observations were spot on, "Avoid saying up front what they are selling" and "hard questions about the nature of the Iraq war can be ignored". Well, that certainly nails these despicable liars and their oily bloodbath. It is their standard operating procedure.

Favorite line: "Having them call for a non political rally is a bit like the Klan calling for a racial-harmony summit."

I will be reading your site on a more frequent basis. This was my first stop.

3. I've noticed this too.
On my own board, we have our regular Rat Bastard Republican trolls armed with their talking points. They've been strangely silent of late.

6. You can bet that...
A very representative number of rat-bastard repuke posters on the larger sites(like HuffPo) are professional astroturfers. If their numbers are dwindling, then someone has made the decision to stop throwing bad money before good.

9. Paid propagandists register under numerous ids & converse with themselves.
Any time I see someone post something outrageous and then a couple others immediately jump in to agree, I suspect it's one of these idiots trying to spread their nonsense. :puke: It's nice to hear the paid propaganda isn't working out as well as they'd hoped. :eyes:

12. I'm not sure I believe in "professional astroturfers".
If there was a job where I could get paid to post, I'd know about it by now.

15. I've noticed that, too.
There are really 2 basic vrieties out there.....

The larger group are pretty much mindless, stick to the worn out RNC talking points. They are pretty ineffectual and actually do more harm to their cause then good. They using cut and paste someone else's talking point, but their follow-ups show a distinct lack of intellectual horsepower.

But the other group (and probably a lot fewer...because I think they probably use multiple IDs to spar) are clearly smarter, good debaters and wordsmiths. Those have to be pros, because they are way too smart to be sticking up for this administration on a purely intellectual basis. They have a vested interest in trying to sway public opinion.

There are some great debaters on our side out there...probably more than a few DUer's too. Here's one that gave me a chuckle:

I want that crack smokin' Marion Barry for President. Isn't he a democrat. He is Mafia all over.

Give me a any Republican in office who is that bad.

Demlicker (what an odd, perverted moniker...or, maybe not)

"Give me a any Republican in office who is that bad."

Well, you got an excellent selection to choose from. We have Inside Traders (Frist), Pay for Players (DeLay), Treasonous Bastards (Rove), Old Fashioned Grafters (Hastert), War profiteers (Cheney), War Mongers (Rumsfield), Self Hating Closeted Homosexuals (Mehlman, Drier), Lying Chickenhawks (sorry, too many to list), or criminal incompetents ("Brownie").

Or you can splurge and get the Ultimate Republican PooPoo Platter (George W. Bush)

7. I think it is related to the Kubler-Ross five stages of grief.
Some of Bush's followers are moving through the stages more quickly than others.
