I am sure may of you see that and think "Yeah so what? He is an idiot" but look at it again.

Look at it.

That is the all time end all joke reference with a point and it is freakin' true.

Look at it. Just look at it.
"I don't think anyone anticipated the breach of the levees."

No matter where you are or what you are doing you say that and everyone will know what you mean. Anyone who tries the "Well actually you know..." will instantly blow all their credibility with the group and be ridiculed (at least silently).

This is the all purpose joke* line right up there with

"We are gonna need a bigger boat" and "No one expected the Spanish Inquisition" ( a little more obscure I know)

Look at it.

Use it. Don't let anyone forget and cement the whole Bush administration/experience in people's minds with that one 11 word phrase.

"I don't think anyone anticipated the breach of the levees."

Despite the fact that they had just run an exercise simulating just that..
... and the fact that anti-aircraft guns were stationed around the G-8 Summit that very year based on reports of a threat of just that.

3. All of that is the point. Summed up in that one phrase
"I don't think anyone anticipated the breach of the levees."

Trust me people will eventually get it.

5. Oh, I agree. I just still can't believe some of the tripe they continue...
... to put out with a straight face.

Like just reading Bush yet again throwing out the bullshit line about "Saddam not showing his weapons..." despite the fact that we know he didn't even HAVE "weapons" (i.e. WMDs) to show!

You're right, though. That line does sum it all up nicely. I think it's one of the main reasons the light has finally begun to shine more brightly on this administration's (and this president's) incompetence.

6. "We did not anticipate an insurgency."
"Who could possibly have anticipated that we would be greeted with RPG's and IED's instead of flowers and candy?"

7. How could any sane people allow a group of men and women
Edited on Mon Oct-10-05 02:00 PM by Dhalgren
to plan and execute a war of preemption, when that same group "couldn't imagine anyone using airplanes as weapons" and couldn't have "anticipated the breach of the levees"! See? They couldn't foresee terrorists using planes as weapons, they couldn't anticipate the levees breaking, but they had enough savvy to start a preemptive war? Man, oh man...

8. I agree but now is not the time to be pointing fingers
You are allowed* to criticise them any time other than the following

BEFORE they screw up. That is being "obstructionist"

WHILE they screw up. That is "not offering alternatives"

AFTER they screw up. That is "Monday morning quarterbacking" and playing the "blame game"

feel free any other time.
