Help - Bush Radio Address Says "100" battalion...
In Goobers last Radio Address, he claimed that there are 100's of Iraqi battalions ready to "Stand Up" and police areas that have been razed by "Coalition" troops.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but was there not just a Senate hearing where, I think it was General Casey, said that there's less than 1 battalion ready for combat duty?

I'm very confused. Any body have the goods?

1. Here you go:
'm encouraged by the increasing size and capability of the Iraqi security forces. Today they have more than 100 battalions operating throughout the country, and our commanders report that the Iraqi forces are serving with increasing effectiveness. In fact, this week coalition forces were able to turn over security responsibility for one of Iraq's largest cities, Karbala, to Iraqi soldiers. As Iraqi forces show they're capable of fighting the terrorists, they are earning the trust and confidence of the Iraqi people, which will ensure the success of a free and democratic Iraq.

3. You are correct
They reported that there had been 3 battalions but that they were now down to 1. I will never forget the look on McCain's face when he asked the question and got the answer that they had, in fact, lost troops rather than gain them.

Add in that they believe that all of those troops, as well as the police, have been infiltrated by insurgents, so that they really can't be 100% trusted.

Don't know where blivet** got 100's of battalions from. Guess he thought no one would notice.

4. I believe he is correct
but it is 'enron accounting'.

Apparently, there are 100 or so battalions, but all except 1 needs US troops with them to operate.

So, it is apparently true that there are 100 battalions of Iraqi solders.

It is also apparently true that only 1 of these battalions can leave home without US Soldiers.

5. You are correct.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The number of Iraqi battalions capable of combat without U.S. support has dropped from three to one, the top American commander in Iraq told Congress Thursday, prompting Republicans to question whether U.S. troops will be able to withdraw next year.

6. Perhaps to Bush* a "battalion" has become singular the same as "troop" has
Edited on Sun Oct-02-05 11:29 PM by WePurrsevere
so in actuality there are only 100 Iraqi men willing to "stand up" and police areas that "coalition" troops (aka US) have razed. :eyes:

Geesh... increasingly I think Bush*'s school grades must have been "fixed around the facts" and he really failed every main subject.

On the right hand side, under the "Newest Audio/Vids" column, click onto the bottom two videos with John McCain -- the second one is more thorough.
