WA Post: "What did Judith Miller accomplish by spending 85 days in jail?"
Miller and Her Stand Draw Strong Reactions

By Howard Kurtz
Washington Post Staff Writer
Saturday, October 1, 2005; Page A04

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/09/30/AR2005093001553.html

In the end, what did Judith Miller accomplish by spending 85 days in an Alexandria jail?

Not much, say her detractors, noting that the deal the New York Times reporter ultimately made to testify about her confidential source in the Valerie Plame leak investigation was similar to agreements reached by Time magazine's Matthew Cooper and other journalists in the murky case.

Some of Miller's colleagues at the Times, who declined to be identified because they are challenging their bosses' stance, say much of the staff is frustrated and confused.

"People are angry," one staffer said. "Was this a charade on her part for martyrdom, or a real principle? She wanted to resurrect herself from the WMD thing," the staffer said, a reference to Miller stories about Iraq possessing weapons of mass destruction that turned out to be wrong.

5. Yes, she'll absolutely have that...
I couldn't believe the cable news "personalities" saying "I hope that when this is all over, she'll tell her story"...

Are you KIDDING me?

Would I spend that time in jail in exchange for the money that will come back from the book deal? Maybe. A really, really strong maybe by the time she hits the talk show and lecture circuit to promote it, sells the paperback rights, and also the INEVITABLE TV MOVIE with Susan Dey or someone like that playing Judy.

TELL ME I'M WRONG after it DOESN'T happen.

:silly:

13. That's my guess as well
And it is sort of her idea of an ethical car wash for her WMD reporting.

6. There's much more here than meets the eye.
I don't think it's about martyrdom, I don't think it's about principle and I certainly don't think it was all a big misunderstanding like her lawyer suggests.

The real reasons for her refusal to testify must be interesting indeed.

14. when one is complicit to Treason .and is actually part and parcel, i don't
think one can be a martyr here.. only a criminal, an accessory to Treason. that is the question here is not like you are protecting someone who did a good thing.. like report a crime or wrong doing, blowing the proverbial whistle.. she is protecting and assisting someone who committed what may be treason-and that may be Cheney, and perhaps cost people their lives for assisting this country against terrorism.. who is going to volunteer now.??

One might guess, and thus presume, that their own hired water carrier for war propaganda is CONTINUING to time and measure her actions at the beck and call of the WH. She delayed. As if on cue she stops her delay.

It looks like a cue. One might even hazard an intelligent guess what it is. One might even look for the day when a stratagem will be revealed. But not journalists, that curiously incurious, willfully naive bunch of clubby failures.

Their frustration should be that they can't even question, don't even know what is going on with a criminally behaving operative in their midst. Mad at Miller? That is also curiously delayed, don't you think? And instead they should be looking at WHY- and looking in the mirror.

The childish pique of people showing themselves fools fooled who can't even imagine how to do their job.

American Judas.. great title considering what he did

http://www.s93118771.onlinehome.us/DU/AMERICANJUDAS.pdf

Aparently since 1989 Cheney has been been involved for profit as the source of WMD's to N Korea/Pakistan/Iran.. through his company make'n money.. in a 'Walmart like sale' of plans, materials and machinery to make nuclear Technology affable to Known supporters of TERRORISM.

he destroyed probably what amounted to nearly all the significant spies in the Saudi and Iraq area to protect his sorry fat ass. By outing the only real investigation into the WMD's,

12. My answer? Much MUCH scarier, no tinfoilhat either.
Libby's message to her specified upcoming biological attacks.
Why would he do that?

Easy. These pwicky, pnac Neoconmen are not content with our political cesspool system. They want real power, not for some prescribed limited time, but for generations. "Democracy/Freedom" remains a convenient popular battle cry for them. It rallies the idiots around them, it gives them cover, it provides them with a "goal" to protect as they proceed to dismantle what democratic systems and freedoms which still exist. Case in point - Patriot 1 & 2.

These guys are not dumb. Evil? sure, but not dumb. They see how every single one of their predictions turned out to be false. They know that America is waking up to the fact that Iraq was based on lies; that 9/11 was nothing less than institutional incompetence by Bush&Cronies; that the administration's plan to destroy Social Security and the rest of the protections have been found out; that they have their backs to the wall and that wall is rapidly approaching.

That wall is reality. They have one choice, to allow another huge, devastating attack on our country, claiming that our dissent was the reason why it happened, and thereby, taking control forever. If we remain aware, afraid and able to communicate with each other, we can prevent it.

maybe.

whenever they can. Libby doesn't know shit. He is going to jail along with a lot of his other cronies and they are all crapping their pants at the moment.

16. What I suspect...I could be wrong
She said one thing that made it clear to me (maybe). She got them to agree to limit the questions to Plamegate and she wouldn't have to reveal her sources for other things. Like, say, Chalabi and/or Curveball. I think Bolton was brokering some kind of deal or acting as an emissary from the White House.

But I think what she won was immunity from anything but Plamegate.

I don't think it was about Libby at all. As you say she limited her testimony, no fishing. She's hiding something even bigger than Plamegate.
