Urgent: Exempt NO victims from Bankruptcy Bill - call 800-959-2780
on AAR, Al Franken just said that Conyers and Nadler are introducing a bill THIS AFTERNOON (Thursday, 9/8) to exempt victims of the hurricane disaster from the bankruptcy bill ... Democrats had proposed this exemption when the bankruptcy bill was first introduced ... it was rejected by the republicans ... what a surprise ...

please call your Congressmen (800-959-2780) and ask them to vote for this bill ...

unfortunately, Franken did not provide the bill number ... if anyone knows it, please post it ...

thanks DU'ers !! ... make those calls ...

1. Ooooooo!
What a delightful petard they hoist themselves upon!

These guys don't just shoot themselves in the foot, they bring extra clips and reload regularly.

5. It's a start to fixing this abominable bill's giveaway to BIG BANKING.
Let's watch the Republicans vote it down--and don't bet they won't find some reason to say it is a very bad idea for the economy.

7. Not to be contrary but
Wouldn't all the poor people still qualify under the old rules because they already made less than the avg/year salary for their state?

Wouldn't the upper class W supporters really be the ones to suffer? Would they even know if the Dems saved their butts from this? When they thought they were voting against gay marriage, what they really got was the new bankruptcy bill...might be a tough, but critical lesson for them.
