UPDATE: DNC 2005 Hispanic Summit This Weekend
Washington, DC - The Democratic National Committee and Chairman Howard
Dean will host the third annual DNC Hispanic Summit in San Antonio, TX
this weekend from August 5th-7th, 2005. The summit will provide an arena
for important dialogues on how to build and maintain a lasting national
Democratic Party network within the Hispanic community.

DNC Chairman Howard Dean announced the summit and invited the Hispanic
community to participate during his visits with the National Association
of Latino Elected & Appointed Officials, the League of United Latin
American Citizens, and the National Council of La Raza. This year, new
leaders will join an already growing community of Hispanic Democrats to
discuss ways in which the Democratic Party can best engage the fastest
growing American constituency nationwide.

"The Democratic Party has led the way in promoting minority leadership
at the local, state and national level, that's why 92% of Hispanic
elected officials are Democrats," said Dean announcing the summit, "make
no mistake, Democrats will continue to lead the way...We will not take a
single vote for granted."

The action-oriented agenda will benefit from the participation of
notable Hispanic leaders including Congressional Hispanic Caucus
Chairwoman Grace Napolitano, Congresswoman Hilda Solis (CA), Congressman
Charles Gonzalez (TX), Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX), NM Secretary of
State Rebecca Vigil Giron, State Representative Trey Martinez Fischer
(TX), State Representative Pete Gallego (TX), Bronx Borough President
Adolfo Carrion, and others.
