"Republican Thieves" part one "COINGATE"
Edited on Sun Jul-31-05 02:37 PM by Joanne98
There are so many Republican scandals in Ohio we have been forced to set up separate pages for each one. This page deals with the Noe Coin Con. This page also includes the Bush-Cheney fundraiser scandal — again featuring Mr. Noe and his Republican cronies.

Noe Scandal timeline as of Saturday, May 29, 2005 (See below for latest news)
“Events in the unfolding scandal involving the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation’s $50 million investment in two rare-coin funds controlled by Maumee coin dealer Thomas W. Noe:

1998 * May — The bureau selects Noe as one of 28 emerging managers and one of three alternative-investment managers and invests $25 million with him to buy and sell rare coins.

2001 * June — The bureau invests $25 million more with Noe, despite concerns from internal bureau auditors about a lack of controls, Noe’s investments in real-estate and other noncoin assets, and possible conflicts of interest.

2003 * October — Two state-owned coins valued at $300,000 are reported stolen in the mail at a Colorado subsidiary of Noe’s.

2004 * September — External auditors report that 119 coins worth $93,000 from Colorado cannot be located. Auditors say Noe suspects a former employee of ”misappropriation of assets.”

2005 * April 3 — The Blade of Toledo publishes the first article detailing questions about the coin investment. Bureau officials and Gov. Bob Taft strongly defend the deal, saying it has made money.

This is really long but since it was revealed today that JEAN SCHMIDT knows TOM NOE! It's important for the voter's of Ohio's 2nd district to know as much about JEAN'S FRIEND, TOM NOE as possible.
