"John Kerry Outed Undercover CIA Agent"
John Kerry Outed Undercover CIA Agent
« on: July 15, 2005, 10:15:50 AM »

Sen. John Kerry, who called for Karl Rove to be fired over allegations that he revealed the identity of CIA employee Valerie Plame, outed a genuine undercover CIA agent just this past April - even after the Agency asked that his identity be kept secret.

Kerry blew the cover of CIA secret operative Fulton Armstrong during confirmation hearings for U.N. ambassador nominee John Bolton.

Questioning Bolton, Kerry asked: "Did Otto Reich share his belief that Fulton Armstrong should be removed for his position?" - according to a transcript excerpted by the New York Times.

"The answer is yes," the top Democrat continued.

1. Armstrong was already out.
The Herald is pretty close to being a paper version of Fox News. It's right-wing hackery at it's finest.

5. I was just gonna say. The timing seems pretty desperate.
Maybe more Rovian mess about to hit the proverbial.

21. They just love to tarnish the reputation of war heros
While they commit treason, wont enlist, and dodge the draft. Pathetic.

15. Kerry did not out him.
Besides, was this guy an operative under the name Kerry used or under the name Bolton used or under some third name? The problem with the Plame matter is that Novak outed her under the name she used in her undercover status. So did Rove because it was very easy for anyone to find out the name of Plame if they knew she was Joseph Wilson's wife. It would not be easy to find out that Mr. Smith was actually the person Kerry named. That is a totally different matter. Had Plame used the name Smith while under cover, an article identifying her as Plame or a comment about Wilson's wife would not have outed her, at least not so blatantly.

9. Armstrong was already named much earlier, and by REPs like Lugar.
This is more distraction by a Rightwingnut media to let Rove off the hook.

17. I guess if Rover goes down then DumbassCo will do everything
to spread the fallout as far as possible.

Clintons maybe still a bit vulverable over that Marc Rich biz - the pardon Clinton signed on his way out of office.

Rich part of the investigation target into oil brokers involved in the UN oil-for-fraud/food scam.

26. I saw an attempt to blame it on Hillary
The premise was that Cooper is married to Mandy Grunwald, who is tight with Hillary, obviously. Pretty lame attempt, but it has been tried.

23. What's up with them? Is this some kinda Hugo Chavez/Venezuela
situation with Kerry and a Boston newspaper?

Why would they go out of their way to print a knowingly false story?

They hate Kerry that much?

27. They're a wingnut paper
They're the Washington Times of Boston. Pittsburgh has one, too. Then, of course, there's Faux News.

So, yeah, they go out of their way to spin (i.e., LIE about) whatever helps their side. I wonder how they all sleep at night. Surely at least one of them has a conscience! They can't all be sociopaths. Can they?

Golly, from the way Rick Santorum talks, Boston is just the earth's epicenter of evil librils...where'd they find enough wingnuts to fill the seats at the 100 typewriters?

13. CIA agent's husband attacks Rove: BBC

The husband of a CIA agent who was outed during a row over Iraq has accused the White House of a "cover-up" involving top aide Karl Rove.
Political strategist Mr Rove has denied being behind the leaking of Valerie Plame's identity to the media in 2003.

It is alleged that Mr Rove spoke to a journalist about the agent, days before her name was revealed in the press.

Ms Plame's husband, former ambassador Joseph Wilson, added his voice to Democrat calls for Mr Rove to be fired.

"It's very clear to me that the ethical standard to which we should hold our senior public servants has been violated," he said at a press conference in Washington.

14. So will Gozales prosecute him? No? Golly, wonder why.
Well, at least Bush will revoke his security clearance. No? Wonder why? Does Bush owe Kerry like he owes Rove? Is Kerry Bush's brain as well?

Maybe it's because Kerry didn't out anybody, didn't break any laws.

Any freeper who says this should be told to immediately demand from their local USA that Kerry be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. And cc Torture Czar.
