Bush jumps the shark. Tonight's episode.
Edited on Tue Jun-28-05 09:53 PM by BleedingHeartPatriot
Here are the highlights.

Speaks in front of soldiers to explain why they're fighting and dying and...

Recycles a speech from 3 years ago, with just a slight bit of tweaking.

The soldiers participate in "mandatory applause" which is so obvious, that MSM is forced to comment on it.

Fake cries at the end, provoking more tepid troop applause.

God, I'm loving this. MKJ

1. He is such an embarrasment...
The French may dislike Jacques Chirac's policies, but at least he pulls it off with panache.
The Brits might want Tony Blair exiled, but at least he displays some intellect.
We are stuck with a complete embarrasment - not only is his administration destroying our country, he's about as eloquent and intelligent as a drunk clown. ROme is burning!

2. Aargh, I know, even Raygun could put together an articulate and
eloquent speech.

This was an insult to the soldiers in the audience. MKJ

7. I think the crying was real--I really do.
Ostensibly it was because he felt warmed by the loyalty of the troops--but I think the little man is under serious stress these days, and the emotions just popped out. And he knows those troops are dying under his authority, so somewhere inside his tiny heart, he felt that a bit. He feels helpless and stuck and honestly doesn't know which way to turn to get out of this mess.

Not that I have any sympathy for the fool. He made his bed.

Lyndon Johnson was so overwhelmed with the mess he'd let develop in Vietnam that he'd crawl into bed and put the covers over his head. To his credit he refused to run for a second term.
