Antonio for President!
I'm watching CSPAN right now and the new mayor of Los Angeles is talking about things that I don't recall being mentioned during the 2004 election in a mainstream(white) audience.

He is talking about civil rights, urban cities and the working POOR, not the middle class, but the working poor. Now that is a true progressive!

1. I saw Antonio speak in Van Nuys a few weeks ago...
...Kerry was there to endorse him. Villaraigoso will be an EXCELLENT mayor for Los Angeles!:-)

2. tide
I just hope that his election equates to a shift in mainstream political thought. Everyone (with reason) is so concerned now with the disappearance of the middle class; we forget about the working class and poor.

3. Exactly
When the middle class disappear what do they become? I feel that all classes should be in the discussion.

I see so many posts on here about Walmart and their workers. Are these middle class people?

6. Wal Mart
God no. Low-wage, lack of medical coverage. Very sad.

7. Very sad
to use the workers as a symbol against Walmart, when there are millions like them that we are not even interested in campaigning for because we are so focused on soccer moms, the middle class and the color of states.

What is even sadder is when a young person feel that the only way to get a good paying job is to join the military. Now that is truly sad!

9. He's a great talker
He was pretty lousy as a legislator, though. He'll be fine as mayor but I want someone I can trust running for the White House.
