"Every time I'm in front of a mic, I'm going to mention the name 'Monica'"
this was Newt Gingrich, pre-impeachment.

If you watched the Conyers forum last night, one of the panel's suggestions to the Democrats was to gather a group of lawmakers, storm the offices of the Washington Post editors, and DEMAND coverage of the British talking points memo.

To me, that's the equivalent of Newt's Monica message.

Will the Dems take that advice?

When the Republicans were the minority, they still found ways to be heard. We have to be more creative AND assertive.

1. What was Newt's wife's name?
Edited on Sun May-29-05 04:06 PM by silverweb
The one who was in the hospital, dying of cancer, when he said he wanted a divorce?

I'm going to mention her name whenever I have the opportunity!

On edit: HA! He's done it twice!

Ex-wife Jackie was in the hospital with breast cancer in 1981 when he notified that he was seeking a divorce.

Ex-wife Marianne was in the hospital with a probable new diagnosis of multiple sclerosis when he notified that he was seeking a divorce.

What a scumbag!

3. You're right.
I realize that's not your point, but the hypocrisy of the RW scumbags is what blows me away every single time.

4. I honestly believe that if the Dems wanted the DSM to be an
issue, it would be.

So the answer to your question is "no."

5. Memo. Memo. Memo. Memo.
Wow; that gets tiring after awhile.

7. I watched the Conyers panel too, and most of them did
mention the memo, and very pointedly, too. At the end, Conyers brought it up another time. They are getting the idea.

8. I hated that the rep from WA, whose name I forget,
had to tell the talk show hosts and journalists that they NEED to have progressive reps on their show to get the message out. It seems to clear to me, but it must not be. Instead, we have people like Lieberman taking up time on Schultz when we need to have Sheila Jackson-Lee.

The panel was right that progressives need to demand coverage in the corporate media, but progressives have to give more of a platform to progressive politicians, too.
