Dean on Meet the Press on Sunday
Watch Dean on Meet the Press:

www.democrats.org/sundayshow

This Sunday, Governor Dean will sit for a full hour with Tim Russert on NBC's Meet the Press.

He'll discuss his first 100 days in office and his unprecedented efforts to build the party from the ground up, along with major issues like the Republican abuse of power in the Senate.

You can get your local listings here:

That debate in the Senate is already underway -- and the fringe GOP leadership kicked it off with a bang. On the Senate floor Thursday, one of the Republican leaders actually compared his Democratic colleagues to Adolf Hitler.

That's how fanatical and out of the control the Republican leadership has gotten.

They can't settle for 95 percent of the president's judicial nominees confirmed -- they need to change the rules of the Senate to pack the courts with the most extreme, unqualified nominees. They can't accept limits on their power -- they need to undo more than 200 years of tradition and turn the Senate into a rubber stamp for the most unpopular lame duck president in modern history.

In the middle of the debate this week, Democratic Leader Harry Reid stepped off the floor of the Senate to do a conference call briefing with Democrats across the country. He summed up the latest developments -- including reports of special interests threatening to withhold campaign cash from Republicans who vote their conscience and support the Democratic position.

He also told the thousands of us on the call how we can win this fight: by making personal calls to your Senators. He said that wavering Republicans in eight states particularly needed to hear from us: Alaska, Arizona, Maine, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Virginia.

You can get contact information for Senators and a full information briefing, including the audio of the conference call, on the Democratic Party web site:

Thank you for all that you're doing to get the message out in your community. Please don't let up.

Sincerely,
Tom McMahon
Executive Director
Democratic National Committee

1. Will he discuss the PNAC? The Downing memo? Stolen election?
Nah, didn't think so...no 'leader' will.

3. But really, did he mention the memo?
Or was Russert holding a gun to him from under the table?

Edited to add: Have you time traveled into the future or something?

Why don't you wait until the interview has taken place before you start moaning?

6. "Yet." Yes. We must politely give Rove time to formulate a counter-hoax.
Oh wait- we already did- the "Newsweek" thing.

Looks like Rove may have beat us again, eh? Well, there is still time- but it's running out.

8. Today is Friday.
And yesterday was Thursday. John Conyers wrote his letter to Bush going on 3 weeks ago.

Sunday is not too late- we shall see.

11. there's a difference between criticism and hatred
Edited on Sun May-22-05 06:51 AM by welshTerrier2
i really don't think that it's appropriate to call those who are angry with Dean "haters" just because he has not raised issues of great concern to them ...

what evidence is there that those who are critical of Dean's refusal to raise these issues "hate" Dean ???

it's nonsense to make the argument that the "interview hasn't happened yet" ... the essential point these posters regularly criticize is that he has not made these points YET ... i'm sure they hope that he does raise them today ... you make the argument they should wait and see what Dean says TODAY; their point is they have been waiting and not hearing what they want to hear for months now ... Dean is under no obligation to agree with them but they are equally under no obligation to condone what he's done, or not done, on the issues they've raised ...

i include myself among those who think that it should be the role of the Chair to speak out on issues ... i think that's especially true of Dean who was a leading Presidential candidate and not just a fund-raising hack like some other Chairs have been ... i understand that some disagree with this ... i understand that some believe the Chair should not concern himself with policy issues ... does that mean i "hate" Dean? i supported Dean for DNC Chair ... i disagree with much of what he's done so far; i don't hate him ...

we hear so many complaints that Democrats don't get a chance to air their views in the MSM ... well, Russert may be a hatchet job but Dean certainly has a full hour to help get our message out ... the concern being expressed by the posters above, and by me, is that he (and the Party as a whole) either 1. does not have the positions we prefer (e.g. a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq) or 2. refuses to discuss certain issues that we believe would benefit the Party (e.g. the UK memo) ...

calling people "haters" when the focus of their criticism is based on legitimate difference on the issues seems inappropriate to me ... these aren't personal attacks on Dean's character or on his potential; they are criticisms and disagreements on the issues ... the difference is important ...

12. Um, ok
Yeah, criticism of something that hasn't taken place yet is justifiable. Uh-huh. Whatever. And of course Dean is the only one in the Democratic party who can possibly speak on the myriad of important issues out there today.

Do please share more your "logic" with us.....with wisdom like yours on our side how can we lose??

Go nip at someone else's ankles toto.

Julie

14. Kick ass Howard!!!!!
Looking forward to hearing Dr Dean speak out. This is a tremendous opportunity, there is so little coverage of our Dem leaders in the msm. I hope this interview is something we'll be talking about for weeks.
This is a great chance to get our message out. Go get 'em Howard, I'm pulling for you!
:woohoo:

and that there was evidence of that out there. He never mentioned the memo straight up.
