Rep. Roscoe Bartlett on peak oil

I recently ran across this interview with Rep. Roscoe Bartlett of Maryland about peak oil. To date, Rep. Bartlett may be the only member of congress who has publicly taken a stance on peak oil. And strangely enough, he’s a Republican.

Where are the Democrats on peak oil? It seems odd that a Republican is standing alone on this issue.

but he's also a serious PhD scientist - and actually worked as a science prof and as a scientist at IBM.

Also, Michigan Congressman Joe Schwarz - an Evangelical, and a Conservative Republican, came out FOR stem cell research - said the ethical argument compels us to heal sick people (he's an MD - but a real doc, not like Frist or Coburn or Walden).
