Mr. Rangle had the repug sputtering, talking about baseball, kissing up to the host, anything to change the subject off of ethics. Because, as Mr. Rangel pointed out, he could not criticize DeLay and survive. One of the best verbal lashings I have seen in weeks. :applause:

Drier interrupted and said he just criticized DeLay, and it sounded like they both corrected him. (because all he really said was DeLay was free to say what he wanted at the NRA event) Maybe someone on the left coast can verify. (I was multitasking at the time.)

He sits there laughing and talking about baseball. What a punk, he won't talk to the issues that Rangel raises. Drier is a prime architect of lot of our troubles, as the chair of the Rules committee.

Just watched the exchange and I now I ask, is there any dirt out there on Drier that would stick like DeLay's?

While I thought Rangel was good, I personally didn't think he was able to overcome Drier, but only because Drier didn't stop talking over him (even if it was babble), and Bob Scheiffer didn't come to Rangel's aide to allow him to speak.

I hate it when hosts don't play even-handedly.

Then their piece on the explanation, and ramifications of the filibuster. What a disaster. I took away from it, assuming I was Mr. Uninformed Joe Public, that the Dems were being obstructionist.

I don't think I'll watch that show again.

Dreier said his piece, but then when Rangel
started talking, Dreier kept interrupting
him, and Schieffer sat there and let him do it.
So Rangel was getting to Dreier.

Thing was, at the end, Dreier kept making off
topic comments about the new baseball team,
and Rangel slammed him for not answering the
questions.

That, thank Gawd, was the last word.

13. We've Gotta Start Talking Louder...

I'm so tired of Democrats being pummeled on these shows by rude, obnoxious Repugnicans and attempting to "be bigger" by backing down. This almost always happens when a Repugnican is trapped in a hypocrisy or lie and needs to stammer their way out of the mess...talking over is a Rovian trick that works and works and works. Actually I credit Gingrich with this one. The more noise you make, the weaker your opponent appears (especially if they get flustered) and it's perceived as "strength" by viewers.

I'd love for a Rangel to look at both a Drier and Shieffer or Wolfman or whomever and tell them how full of shit they really are. Charlie could probably unload for a good 15 minutes and not even hit his stride. These goons need to be taken to task.

Also, it's time we don't mince words. It's time to call these bastards liars and hypocrites. Use their own buzzwords on them like buzzsaws.

When I take on one of these blowhards, I let them take their first and only shot...after that, I'm on them like a cheap suit.
