Have the Congressional Democrats Stopped ANYONE?
I am so depressed to see Jim "The UN DOesn't Exist" Bolton and John "Honduras" Negroponte sailing breezily through to confirmation. Just like Condoleezza Rice, just like Alberto Gonzales, just like every single non-judicial appointment Bush has put forward.

Am I wrong?

Have the Congressional Democrats stopped a single, solitary a-hole from getting through?

And what does that say? Why is the powder being kept dry?

1. It says that there's not enough votes without some GOP on our side.
So it's not likely to happen.

2. Uh, yeah, that was one of the MoveOn arguments, I think.
The Dems blocked a total of 10 judicial appointments using the filibuster. Nevermind that they rubberstamped another 274 appointments.

But the big fuss over the "nuclear option" of eliminating the filibustering of appointments is simply over these 10 blocked candidates.

Talk about skewed politics, eh?

3. They don't have the votes... & they need to save the "fuss" for the SC
Remember, Bush hasn't nominated anyone yet to the SC.
The fight will take place then.

5. They don't have the numbers to stop anyone.
Not that they shouldn't try.
