Repubs: The BIG BROTHER GOV'T PARTY
Edited on Thu Mar-31-05 10:39 AM by Beetwasher
If the Dems don't seize on this opportunity to frame the debate from here on out as follows then I'm sorry but they are truly useless:

The Dems are the party that fights for your liberty, your freedom and your personal privacy. The Repubs are the party of Big Brother Government. They want to dictate to you how you should live, who you should marry, how you should die and what you can and cannot do with your body. The Dems will fight to keep you and your families private decisions PRIVATE. The Dems will fight to keep government OUT OF YOUR HOME. The Repubs want to PUT GOVERNMENT INTO THE MOST PRIVATE ASPECTS OF YOUR LIFE.

Then go on to quote Judge Birch ad nauseum.

It's that fucking simple. I just hope they can get their act together and do this. If they want a hot button, emotional rallying cry, this is it. They better not pass on this opportunity. They must seize the day, seize the frame and run with it NOW or the opportunity will be lost. They can totally alter the political landscape at this point because of recent events.

2. They've Been Given An Amazing Opportunity
Edited on Thu Mar-31-05 11:20 AM by Beetwasher
To do just that; make it stop and turn it around. They have to seize it while it's fresh in everyone's minds.

The Dems look out for you against the gov't interfering in your private lives. The Dems look out for you in making sure your SS is safe. We're looking out for the little guy, we're protecting the little guy, we're fighting for you privacy, for your freedom and to defend your rights under the constitution.

If they can't figure this out and get EVERY DEM on the same page repeating this concept ad nauseum, then yes, they really are completely inept and pathetic.

3. 100% correct.
I hope we've learned from the last 4 years and don't sit this one out, waiting for GOP to frame the issue and frame the dems position.

This is basic, easy stuff...required if you truly wish to be the opposition party that has different ideas of where this country should go.

Of course, framing the administration performance over the last 4 years should have been basic, easy stuff too.

If you want no control over your own life, vote Republican.

or

If you'd like the government to stay out of your business, vote Democrat. (I think the second is better come election-time.)

6. I was thinking about this earlier
Dems are the party of Liberty....should be the meme.

Bet you they won't use this opportunity to reframe the issue.
