Republicans are Begging for a good Ass-Kicking: Here's How...
Here's the latest from my hero, the MASTER of political tactics on how to beat Republicans at their own game.

Tactic: "Allow" People to Come to the "Correct" Conclusion
By Tom Ball

http://www.politicalstrategy.org/archives/001301.php#1301

Technique: Ask questions that "allow" listeners to come to the "correct" conclusion all by themselves. The "correct" conclusion being the one that you deem to be "correct". In writing, speeches and general statements of opinion, this tactic is very effective. When directing such questions to a particular person, the effective execution becomes a bit trickier.

For Example: Suppose you want to convey your support for same-sex marriage. You could ask the question, rhetorically or otherwise, "Do you support same-sex marriage?" But why would you? It's not very thought provoking. It reverts to the knee-jerk, 'yes' or 'no' answer and it fails to frame the issue in a way that is necessarily advantageous to your views.

A more effective question would be: "Do you think the freedom to marry who you want is a matter of equal rights under the law?"

This takes the issue to a whole new level. It empowers itself by borrowing strength and validity from "higher authorities" -- 1) freedom to act as we see fit, and 2) equal rights of Americans.

The answer to this question then becomes one not about how people feel about gays, but rather about freedom and equality -- longstanding icons of America.

This leads naturally to a single conclusion: Of course we support freedom. Of course we support equal rights. That is the American way!

There's more. Read the full article...

And that's just the latest. I recommend that everyone read his other stuff at the "Political Strategy Tactical Assault Project"

1. Taking A Knife To A Gun Fight ...
You frame the issue/discussion in _your_ terms, stick to your point and people will come their own conclusions. Frame the issue as one of equal rights. One is either for equal rights or one is not.

Equal rights must be for all equal. It is this simple.

Which right are you willing to give up? And why are you willing to give up your right?

3. It's more like ammo...
...in the gun that we take to the gunfight. This is just one more tool in the left's growth in backbone.

Alikening it to a knife is a little unfair. This one tactic isn't meant to be the do-all, end-all to the left's political woes, but it is something that will help, if only a little, to give us the confidence and strength to do what we have to do.

4. Framing Project
Merbex, That's right. In fact, they are working on a "Framing Project" That I hope turns out as successful as their "Tactical Assault Project". In case you haven't noticed, I'm a big fan of these guys. I've never been able to find a site like it anywhere. And God know I have tried.

5. Linked on Daily Kos
Although the Framing Project is new and has a limited amount of material right now, I have seen it linked to on the front page of DailKos.com more than once.
