Karen Hughes as Undersecretary of State: Arrogant & hateful and
her job is to "repair" US image abroad! Riding around on Air Force One with "Freedom Fries" on their menu. These people are taking this country further away from the rest of the world with this hubris.

1. Hateful and arrogant
That she is. That makes her a perfect representative of the Bush administration.

Not of America, by any means, but of the Bush administration.

7. I don't know much about her.
What makes her hateful and arrogant? Didn't she quit the first Bush Administration to go home and take care of her kids.

2. Is this a joke?
Karen Hughes, in charge of "repairing the US image abroad."

Lovely.

That makes sense (((heavy sarcasm)))

What's next Jim Carrey in charge of the Protocol Department?

4. When did this happen? Let me guess, Friday 6pm
Well, at least the end is near.

I heard yesterday that the Trade gap, Budget Deficit, and National debt are just about at the tipping point.

It was at this level (as a percentage of their GDP)that Mexico and several other countries went into total economic collapse.

Let's keep out fingers crossed.

5. What are her qualifications for this position??
She has little experience in foreign affairs but enjoys the confidence of the president and is close to the new secretary of state, Condoleezza Rice...............Hughes, a former Texas television reporter...

This is an absolute outrage. Another incompetent dolt on the payroll who will be giving Shrub more "bad advice". Imperial nepotism at its best.

:nuke:

6. When Tucker Carlson thinks you're crossing over into mental illness...
...you're REALLY messed up.

Case in point: Karen Hughes.

http://archive.salon.com/opinion/conason/2004/04/27/hughes/

SALON: What about your profile of George W. Bush in Talk in 1999? That had to be the most damaging profile of him yet written -- swearing like a truck driver, making fun of Karla Faye Tucker's death penalty appeals, mimicking her saying, "Don't kill me!" -- because of its high profile, and because of your access to him. Did that bring you flak from conservatives?

CARLSON: Well, it's always disconcerting when something you write is received in a way you don't expect. I have no problem hurting someone's feelings -- obviously, I work on "Crossfire" -- but when you don't expect to, it's disconcerting. As I put in the book, the day before I filed the piece my wife asked, "Aren't people going to think you're sucking up?" And that was my concern, that people would think it's a suck-up piece.

SALON: And the response from team Bush?

CARLSON: It was very, very hostile. The reaction was: You betrayed us. Well, I was never there as a partisan to begin with. Then I heard that (on the campaign bus, Bush communications director) Karen Hughes accused me of lying. And so I called Karen and asked her why she was saying this, and she had this almost Orwellian rap that she laid on me about how things she'd heard -- that I watched her hear -- she in fact had never heard, and she'd never heard Bush use profanity ever. It was insane. I've obviously been lied to a lot by campaign operatives, but the striking thing about the way she lied was she knew I knew she was lying, and she did it anyway. There is no word in English that captures that. It almost crosses over from bravado into mental illness. They get carried away, consultants do, in the heat of the campaign, they're really invested in this. A lot of times they really like the candidate. That's all conventional. But on some level, you think, there's a hint of recognition that there is reality -- even if they don't recognize reality exists -- there is an objective truth. With Karen you didn't get that sense at all. A lot of people like her. A lot of people I know like her. I'm not one of them.

10. "There is no word in English that captures that." Republican-speak?
I think THAT word would cover it. Yet the partisan dick still shills for the GOP.

8. Don't forget Halloween.
Rove and Hughes showed the sum total of their "talents" when they dressed up for Halloween in hunting gear as a way of mocking Kerry's hunting trip. Besides looking like Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Fudd, their ugly grinning mugs showed just how much they enjoy petty bullshit.
