1. Helps if you have a majority in Congress.
Not gonna happen with neocons in charge of everything.

4. I agree
It will take us taking the republican seats to where there are more democrats who can have a say in it. I doubt it will happen this year. Maybe after the 2006 elections and we get more democrats Congress and the House then they can start working on getting hearings. I do think if they do hearings they must have a lie dector test.

2. First you get...
a majority of partisan Democrats in the House.

Then, you get them stirred up about things.

Someone will then pull out a Bill of Impeachment, and the House votes on it.

Unfortunately, the last successful impeachment, leading to Nixon's resigning, was in part due to the press daily regaling us with the misdeeds of Nixon and his people. And, the left had a large and loud voice back then.

The public also has to be stirred up, and for the past few years the only public being really stirred up has been the right wingnuts. We may be pissed, but we're not organized enough and we don't have a loud enough voice.

That may be changing.

6. Ummmmmm....
President Clinton was successfully impeached. He was acquitted. Just a factual correction.

As for the rest of the posts- yes- major change has to happen in 2006 for this to even be a consideration. Get active.

Well, I take that back. If something so plainly egrigious is discovered (Say, 50+ memos to the FAA about al-Qaeda) then even the GOP would not be able to stand by him or they would definitely lose power. (Nixon example fits here.)

7. Ok, if you want to put it that way...
but Clinton stayed in office, just like Johnson did. I define "successful" as actually throwing the bum out.

Nixon was the only one actually kicked out, even though he didnt wait for the ignonimity of actually being tried by the Senate.

But, all that is irrelevant if we don't take back the House and if we don't get enough people really pissed off at what's going on.

The two 20th century impeachemnts were actually rooted in the form belief amongst some that the President had no right to be in the office. The Left hated Nixon, and the Right hated Clinton, and both sides believed with religious fervor that their enemy besmirched the office.

Impeachment is essentially political, and until we get a groundswell out there that Shrub is corrupt, inept, or otherwise unfit, we can kiss goodbye to any thoughts of impeachment. If and when that groundswell shows up, it doesn't take much in the way of actual "crimes" to impeach. As we saw with the last two.

3. Close Your Eyes And Continue To Dream...
Step one...retake the House of Representatives and Senate in 2006...and hope to get a huge number.

Right now...zero, nill, less than zero. The GOOP controls all the mechanisms for impeachment...the committees, the House & Senate. No way any articles would ever even see a committee reading. It's that bad.

The focus must be in making retaking the House priority #1 in 2006. It's been the cause of our greatest problems for the past 11 years and we won't be able to force this regime to be more responsible or further our own agenda when a Democrat wins the White House without having control of the House.

In the 80's, the Democratic house was our greatest safety valve against Raygun...and forced Poppy Bush to raise taxes in '90 that destroyed him in '92. It's been the wingnut GOOP house that ran the endless Clinton inquisitions and impeachment. Now it's being run by mobster DeLay.

Wanna find a formula? Call your local Democratic party office on Monday and see how you can help.

8. The Articles of Impeachment
have already been written. The problem is getting someone in the House of Representatives to introduce them, then to get them voted on and passed. With the House being under Republican rule, the odds of this happening are against us. If it were to get passed by the House, then it would have to get passed by the Senate, which is also Republican ruled.

Run this search on Google
"articles of impeachment" bush

You'll find lots of stuff.
