Introducing the DU LEGISLATIVE FORUM
Edited on Fri Feb-11-05 04:58 PM by blondeatlast
The place for DUers to gather information on pending legislation in the House and Senate.

No more "unread" bills; let's help our Senators and Representatives out.

Note: This is a forum, so ALL registered DUers are welcome to post.

Find it here:

Edit: BTW, can we please keep this announcement kicked? As you venture forward from the link, a little :kick: would be much appreciated!

3. Not tooting my own horn; this was others' idea originally anyway, but...
could someone recommend this for the "Greatest" page, if you'd be so kind?

Just so the word gets out! Thanks.

7. Sandnsea gave me the idea, and others have had the same.
I refuse to take any credit beyond planting the seed in Skinner's mind!

9. What is it they say about great minds?
I had the same idea just last week and didn't get around to posting it. This is wonderful. By tracking legislation and writing our Congressmen, we DUers can achieve something through this website other than just sitting around and chatting with each other (wonderful as that is).

10. Brilliant..........
It's a start. The rethugs can still manipulate the rules to introduce "new" material at the last moment and procedurally bring it to the floor without committee debate and/or approval. They did that with Patriot 1 and again 2 days ago with HR418.

But this is definately a step in the right direction!

May I suggest that when making a new add we have some kind of subject line format, such as:

H or S (for house or senate)
bill number
short description

15. Gnarly idea!
Helps us keep up with what the retugs are about to hit us in the shorts with. I also like paininthearse's idea about the subject line. That way we can easily see what is important to each of us.

16. This is really needed.
Honest legislators have said they never get a chance to read the bills they are voting on.

Let's help each other keep track of what's being introduced and what the committees do with them. Early intervention can stop some of these bad bills.

Thanks for taking the initiative on this!

18. I've been giving this some thought.....states forum down the road?
From prior posts, this has been designed for Congressional bills. This is needed, I have no argument with that.

But let's consider how we can communiate state-to-state on pending legislation that is worthy of broader introduction, or red flagging attacks on civil liberties and such.

Can this information be shared in this new forum, or perhaps in a seperate new states forum?
