What is it with the Bu$h regime's penchant for nefarious characters?
From Ahmed Chalabi, through the Bernie Kerick "embarrassment," and now "Gannon-gate," the Bu$h regime seems to have a reckless penchant for extremely seedy characters. In fact, Kerick and "Gannon" seem to be peas of the same pod to me. Is there a vetting process at all? How many more are out there and WTF is going on?

1. Al Capone had the same problem
Everyone on his staff was a total slimeball.

Go figure.

3. Birds of a feather....
a similar question can be asked: Why do folks who enter the Mafia so shady, corrupt and violent?

4. Consider that it could be a deliberate policy.
You can control someone who has weak character, and on whom you have some dirt. You can't control someone who is upstanding and has some morals. Read the book "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" to see the principle described in more detail.
