Shuster nails it...Ink stained fingers a "political stunt".
Let's see if we can outnumber the "nasty e-mails" he is expecting to receive on this.

"... Furthermore, in Washington, D.C., even "political courage," (never mind the real stuff) is exceptionally rare. Am I being too cynical? Probably. (And I'm sure I'll get a ton of nasty e-mails from some of you.) But, if members of Congress want to show "solidarity" with the Iraqi people... they are welcome to head to Baghdad, put on a flak jacket, and help/advise the new assembly on writing the constitution. Or, our lawmakers could serve as "election monitors" in Iraq when the constitution is put to a vote as early as this fall. That would be courageous and show real solidarity. An ink-stained american finger, waved for the TV cameras on the floor of the House chamber... is a political stunt."

4. Seeing the Torture Party waving their purple fingers at the SOTU
reminded me of when they put on those purple-heart-band-aids at the Torture Party convention.

6. David Shuster tends to hit the nail on the head most of the time.
I really like him and his take on things. He and Keith Olbermann make MSNBC worthwhile.

8. you obviously haven't read his interview
with the Iraqi woman from the SOTU speech. He was gushing over her. It sounded like a love fest. He pretty much castigates Ron reagen JR and Chris Matthews. I always lik him too but now he's a regular on the Dennis miller show (3 times a week)and seems to be talking out of both side of his mouth. He totally insulted Harry eid last night. Anyone else see it? My son had DM on. Dennis Miller said something stupid like couldn't the Dems find anyone more boring than Harry reid and Schuster said "Everyone in Washington should be ashamed of Harry Reid" It was nasty and i fired off an e-mail to the DM show, which will never be read probably!

11. My email
"Astute observation on the purpled fingers of our Congresspeople the night of the SOTU speech. They did not risk what the Iraqis risked to vote. This reminds me of the Purple Heart booboo bandades at the RNC, in that these people were cheapening a true badge of courage that some have earned legitimately. This is not a political game to the Iraqi people, it is literally a matter of life and death.

I pray for their sakes all turns out for the good after the election. Just declaring the thing a success and then crowing about it for political gain isn't going to cut it for me anymore. I've learned not to buy into the media stunts of this administration. Time will tell.

My heart goes out to the Iraqi people, and I pray their lives resume some semblance of normalcy soon."

12. Stupid Purple Fingers!
My letter:

Subject line: Stupid Purple Fingers!

The Republicans in Congress are pitiful excuses for human beings.

Look at how John McCain campaigned like a bitch for President Bush after the Rove people dragged his family through the mud in 2000.

Or how they uncritically hold up Torture Memo Gonzales as a legal saint and "No one ever thought planes could be used as weapons" Rice as a diplomat.

These people are traitors to the rest of us, but to Congressional Republicans, they are patriots.

This purple finger nonsense is proof positive that they will do any stupid thing the Bush people tell them to, regardless of how utterly brainless and ridiculous it makes them look.

They are completely unserious and unworthy of their offices.
