Poll question: Which of these two quotes do you agree with?
Edited on Mon Jan-31-05 10:40 PM by LoZoccolo
A: I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for, but I admire their discipline and their organization.

B: I still want to be the candidate for guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks.

NOTE: Read my first couple of responses for further information.

1. Knowing his intent, I agree with and support both of them
Could and should they have been worded better? Absolutely.

3. Apparently not.
People are defending him with "we don't need the Republicans to vote for us".

9. The guys with the pick up truck aren't republicans
They are being exploited and manipulated by the republicans.

You can condemn and despise Republicans and STILL get the pick up truck guys to vote for us.

4. Both. Of course the context would help immensely. Leaving it out is so FOX
of you.

The rest of the paragraph on statement B is especially helpful.

5. People here are defending the out-of-context quote!
Go back to that thread and you'll find all sorts of people doing that!

That was part of what I saw as a problem with the Dean campaign (which I was a part of and donated money to): a lot of the supporters just did what they wanted with it, and in this instance, they're saying that he supports their idea that we don't need Republicans to vote for us!

6. Both Dean's, right? And both a notch out of context.
I heard the first interview when he said the second choice you have there in the poll, and it matters a lot what he says before and afterward.

I think Dean will be the new Chair, but of your two quotations, I think the first one is more negative than the second, especially given the context.

I'd buy Lincoln Chaffee and Olympia Snowe a beer. But not Jeff Sessions or Rick Santorum.

7. I agree with the first statement completely.
Learning from your enemies is one of the oldest lessons. I see nothing at all wrong with that statement.

11. Of course you can agree with both.
Like Dean, I want the guys in the aforementioned pickup trucks to quit voting against their economical best interests, turn their backs on the Republican Party which has done nothing for them, and come back to the Democratic Party where they belong.
