2. lol
ok, it's not true.

It's very very difficult to get a constitutional amendment passed, and I don't believe this is being pushed very hard anywhere.

However, it SHOULD be repealed. It's a silly restriction on who we can vote for.

3. And it was put in place to stop FDR after a 3rd term
So can we wait until there is someone decent in office first?

6. do you really think
Bush would run again and win?

And ya know what? If Americans vote for him, then he should get another term. I hate him, you hate him, but what I hate most of all is the idea that we should tweak the law and the constitution based on particular individuals.

People here are aghast at allowing non-native born citizens to run for President because it *might* allow Arnold to run. I think that's childish. Either the idea is right or it's wrong -we shouldn't change our views on it based on the particular people involved.

12. I wasn't really disagreeing with you...but could we stall a little bit?
Bush would run again and the morans that voted for him last time would do it again. He's Jesus, remember? Plus, they would rig the system again if necessary to make it happen.

So the two-term limit really was culling rights wasn't it? So we do have a still viable example of limiting rights that has stuck (unlike Prohibition). Was the non-foreign born citizen thing an amendment? I thought that was written from the beginning. Maybe we need to have it say that someone has at least lived in this country for x amount of time to keep foreign dictators from running and replacing the dictator we have right now.

13. There's a movement
to amend the constitution to remove the natural-born citizen requirement for running for President. People are calling it the Arnold amendment, thinking it only applies to him, which is silly. It applies to ALL citizens who weren't born here.

16. I'm for the term limit
I realize we lose a good third term once in a while, but I think it's a good trade-off to also avoid the president-for-life crap that so many other countries suffer through.

17. I support term limits only for the office of POTUS
That office simply has SO MUCH power that I do believe that there needs to be a constitutional restriction on how long one individual can hold it. I totally agree with you re term limits on other offices.

10. Stooges like Bush are plentiful. If the pubs hadn't been able to
run Bush, they could have brought in another stooge and rigged his win. As disgusting as bush is, I think it's a mistake to focus on him personally. It's the factions behind the scenes we should be focusing on.

19. Bill is unfortunately in terrible shape
As much as I would LOVE to see a Clinton/Gore '08 ticket (that would crush almost any Republican there is), Bill doesn't have the energy to campaign like he used to. He just had major heart surgery.
