Will the NBD supporters come out and admit that they are Greens?
Edited on Tue Jan-20-04 09:34 PM by Jackson Smith
Once Dean is unable to capture the nomination, will his most extreme supporters come out and admit that they are actually Greens, not really interested in the prosperity of the Democratic Party, just in Dean? I'm wondering, because I think the hardcore support of only Dean and not of the Party (and the other candidates) is not constructive for our Party at all, but rather destructive and arguably key in Gore losing in '00. At some point these people need to come clean.

Nothing to admit to....except for their general anti-2nd amendment views...I'm proud to say I support the greens, particularly in local races. Dean's 2nd amendment stance is why I'm supporting him over Dennis.

I am a hardcore Dean supporter who is a supporter because I

1) Am adamantly against the Iraq war

2) I believe in fiscal discipline and sound economic policy

I have very little in common with greens except for my belief in a non-imperialist foreign policy and the belief the government should be investing in and encouraging alternative energy.

I voted for Gore in 2000.

I voted a straight Democratic ticket in 2002.

And I am a registered Democrat in Will County, Illinois currently.

Everybody draws a line somewhere. Mine is at Dean for the presidency. I'll probably vote against Judy Biggert for my Representative (Illinois thirteenth Congressional District), although it will more than likely be just token opposition. I'll be voting Democrat for Senator.

Of course, I'm still open to alienation from threads like this on those coutns too.

14. I'm a Hardcore Democrat
I'm a hardcore Democrat. When I go into the voting booth I vote a straight ticket, every Democrat that's running. However, I draw the line at voting for thugs. That won't happen.

If the Democrats nominate a thug I will do what I normally do when I enter the voting booth. I'll check every Democrat running, then go back and remove the check next to the names of the thugs. This enables me to avoid voting for either
  • Republicans, or
  • thugs

Pretty neat, eh? It sure beats what I did in 1968 when Humphrey ran for president against Nixon. I didn't vote at all.

White House welcomes upset

The topsy-turvy results produced smiles at the White House, where advisers hoped for a long, nasty race that would produce a damaged nominee and a divided Democratic Party. Bush stole the spotlight from Democrats with the annual State of the Union address, a dressed-up version of his campaign agenda.

“They have 17 contests over the next five weeks,” White House communications director Dan Bartlett said, without a hint of regret. “So it looks like the roller coaster is just beginning”

If the Democratic party wants to prosper it better listen to it's base and stop listening to the corps. I'll vote for anyone but the shrub, however without a real difference I wont waste my money or time trying to replace one bones-man with another.

I've voted against the Dem candidate once. In '68 against Humphrey and Nixon by voting Peace & Freedom. I withheld my vote once against a Democrat who had sold her soul to the NRA.

I will be voting against the war this time and those who support it. Which means, that if Edwards or Kerry get it, I'll be voting Green.

The DLC and Clinton were a helluva lot more destructive than the Greens have ever been.

57. I believe myself to be a hardcore Dean supporter, but I'm definitely not a
"Green." I liked Nader in 2000, but I voted for Gore because I knew Nader couldn't win. I've always supported the Democratic candidate, but the Democrats that have let Bush run over them the past three plus years have really disappointed me.

One of the main reasons I support Dean so much is because he's at least willing to fight. I could never vote Green because of what happened in 2000 and if one of the other candidates get the nomination I'll vote Dem, but it'll be the same old pussy footing around that they've done for the whole time of Bush's administration and I'll be unenthusiastic.
