A pre-inaugural prayer for our nation

Dear Lord,

We beseech you. What have we done to piss you off so much? It must have been pretty horrible because you have inflicted us -- your Chosen People -- with this abomination called Bush.

Maybe we were getting a little full of ourselves back there in the 90s, being so prosperous and all. So you gave us Bush to take us down a peg or two. But why, Lord, must we endure TWO terms? One was enough. We got the message -- loud and clear. Whatever it was we did -- it'll never happen again. We promise.

If in your divine wisdom you feel we still need to be taught a lesson, send a swarm of locust or maybe a nasty drought. Anything, dear Lord, just not four more years.

So we ask that you deliver us from the foul stench that permeates our great nation. Deliver us from the shame and disgrace that has been brought upon America by these monstrous little trolls.

And one final prayer Lord: Take Cheney, too.

... for it is we who must be your hands. Grant us courage, and focus. Give us good companions along our way, and laughter that renews the heart. Help us redeem the promise of our nation once again. Deliver us from evil.
