who was ahead in previous polls..should be interesting to see. And could be a trend for the next several states.

1. What about the environmental vote?
Certainly Kerry's credentials are MUCH higher than Dean in that regard...I would think Clark/Dean will split the gun vote and that will help Kerry.

3. I think "military stripes" has more clout than environment...let them
swing it out...after all I just saw that "Clark has more stripes thread"...so swing it out...have fun.

2. Kerry will hurt Clark--- a LOT.
And I also think Edwards will eat away at the 'we have to have a Southerner' crowd's support for Clark, too.

6. you could be right --- maybe a few "barbs" between Kerry/Clark will be
exchanged and we will see how a "frontrunner" like Kerry does.

10. Clark hasn't been challenged in this campaign yet.
He avoided Iowa, where everyone else (except Lieberman) competed and beat each other up. His numbers in NH are a reflection of the fact that he's had sole possession of the stage. Keryy and Edwards are going to take him down, I predict.

4. I dunno know about that...
Kerry whomped Dean for the anti-war vote.

He whomped Dean for the young vote.

He whomped Dean for the new vote.

He whomped Dean for the labor vote.

I don't think Kerry's appeal is limited to the military vote. Nor is Clark's.

If that's the strategy of the Dean campaign, they could be in for another whomping :hi:

14. Talk IS cheap...
...and right now, Kerry has results in the bank. What's Dean got but talk?

In Iowa at least, Kerry's message resonated across more groups than Dean's did. Blue collar, white collar, anti-war, youth, seniors, new voters, veterans, etc., all preferred Kerry's message to Dean's.

To say that Kerry will be relegated to scrapping with Clark for the military vote is misguided. Last night showed the man has far broader appeal than you give him credit for.

15. Kerry "peaked" ...Clark will split the vote and Dean goes on for 50 states
people polled around the country favored Dean...primaries are different from cuacus style sharing of gep votes.

19. Ah, well that's the crux of it
"people polled around the country favored Dean..."

But did they favor him cuz they liked his platform, or because it looked like he'd steamroll through IA and NH?

We'll see soon enough, but I'm guessing we'll start seeing a lot of movement in those national polls.

In the meantime, NH is very much up for grabs for 4 very able candidates :hi:

16. Didn't Kerry get 1/3 of the anti-war vote last night?
I saw that on a scroll this morning but I am not sure if it was CNN or FOX.

18. i'm sure he did...my point is that with Clark in the race...you will see
a "big split" based on that as a "criteria" by the voter.

It should be a great debate...Kerry the frontrunner...Clark the on-coming general ...Edwards who surpised everyone one and now has to be taken seriously...and Dean who has the passion and message to do it.

17. When you have to start talking about opponents spilliting the vote
you're guy is toast in th long run. The only relevent question is whether Dean drops out after NH or the following week.

20. if i'm wrong fine...if not ...you are eating crow and in for Dean for 50
states and has the endorsements and machine to compete.

Let Clark and Kerry be the expected winners in NH....

In fact...Kerry is the frontrunner...if he loses...what does that mean?

Let me help...it means nothing..look at history.

23. No more than Ross Perot split the Pro-choice Vote w/Clinton
Don't Overestimate so-called "Military" Vote!
Vets don't tend to be single issue voters. Or Clinton never would have elected.
The Veteran's of Foreign Wars (VFW), endorsed W for chrissakes!
The only thing that may be different here is the Iraq issue.

I jus' wanna see Clark debating GeeDubya...

24. I don't think it's the "military vote" issue....
it's the "best chance at beating Bush" issue in which they'll be competing the most.
