Ok, so we lost the election on "moral values"

So how is pushing our party farther to the left supposed to help us win? I mean, Kerry was pretty damn liberal.

I reject the whole, if you act really liberal the liberals will suddenly appear and begin voting in huge numbers. They did this year, we still lost.

I reject the idea that the youth vote will magically carry us to victory. Didn't happen this year. Didn't happen with Howard Dean either.

So, what's the fuss about. I mean, it's not like we haven't been able to elect anyone but a southern populist since, well, 60 years.

2. Aaaargh, 'values'...

This is the word they keep bringing up, and with a straight face, in the UK media. Translation: 'naked bigotry and ignorance'. Today, somebody was asking what the equivalent British 'values' would be for Tony Blair to campaign on. Here the big issue is immigrants, or 'asylum seekers' as our right-wingers call them to avoid sounding quite so much like the racists they are.

So, to achieve an election win after the style of George W Bush, Tony should describe waves and waves of unwashed Eastern Europeans heading for our shores at every opportunity, and state that if you vote for his opponent, 4,000 of them will be round your house to murder your sweet silver-haired granny within 20 minutes.
