I think I'm more stunned by Bunning winning in KY...

I mean this man basically had a very public emotional and mental breakdown over the course of a political campaign, and the people of Kentucky watched this, looked at the guy and said "Hey, that's who we want as our Senator!".

This blows me away more than anything else I think.

Coburn of Oklahoma was another nut . and DeMint of South Carolina was obvioustly demented yet he won also.

His poll numbers had slipped dramatically and he was behind for a long time, then his numbers suddenly rose. Very odd, just as the whole Republican batch of wins is when most of the country claimed we were going in the wrong direction and needed a change.

8. I'm having a really difficult time with it.

I worked really hard on the Mongiardo campaign, this was particularly devastating to me.

We're going to have to move out of Kentucky. My county in SE KY always goes blue. Over 75% of voters are registered Democrats. We went for Gore, we went for Chandler in the governor's race. Mongiardo won, but we went 60% for Bush yesterday. I refuse to raise my children here.

Watching these crazy guys in the senate. Watching as teh continue to melt. Watching the media figure out how to report it.

11. The people of Kentucky now have 100 year old Strom Thurmond.

From what I heard, Bunning sounded like he was in the onset of Alzheimer's.

Well, Kentucky has got him now.

12. The results page for that race looked very suspicious.

Bunning was losing by several points when about a third of the vote was counted. Then there was a very sudden surge that put him at just over 50 percent, and he stayed there as the rest of the votes were counted. If the surge was due, say, to rural precincts reporting later than urban/suburban precincts, why didn't that trend continue and put him well over 50%?
