After watching my 18 year old daughter
and tons of other kids vote, I was so damned impressed with them all, I started to cry on the drive home. I'm not kidding--here in WI you can register at the polls and there were at least 50 kids doing just that. I was able to move ahead and vote immediately as I was already registered so I stood back waiting for my daughter and I watched all these kids--you could tell some of them were a little intimidated and most of them were alone, all of them watching everyone around them to 'see how to do it right' while trying not to look 'goofy'. I was so incredibly proud of them all. They were a diverse mix; lots of piercings, scruffy clothes, some black, some white, some I don't know for sure, some girls some guys and they were all there doing what they knew was important.

When we win this--I have to believe these kids deserve a lion share of the victory. They were incredible!!

1. that's great news!
They're voting in their own self-interest. After all this is going to be their country pretty damn soon.

KIAL!

2. You have to thank Bush
For awakening (and uniting) young people. He has helped to seed a large number of future leaders

4. Your story
just brought tears to my eyes. My daughter voted for the first time this year and she's 28.

3. Reminiscent of 1976- the first year I voted.
And what a year they picked. Historical.
Yeah, I'm thrilled right now. It's a great feeling to know that so many of us are also filled with that feeling.
Congratulations.

5. My nine year old got in the act Sunday LOL
Canvassers came to the door Sunday and we assured them we were already Kerry all the way, thanked them for their hard work (excuse the bush phrase lol)

Anyway, as I was shutting the door I saw my nine year old daughter running after them in the yard yelling "Thanks! Let's just hope we can get Bush out of office Tuesday"

It cracked me up!

6. It's great isn't it?
I've been saying for the last few months that the 18-29 year olds were going to win this for Kerry.

My 18 year old son got his absentee ballot a few weeks ago and sat down immediately to fill it out. I told him, "Sweetheart, you can wait and vote on November 2nd if you want." He said, "No. The Democratic Party wants me to vote absentee as soon as possible!" :) :) I'm so proud of him and all the rest of his generation who are engaged and pro-active! It's so wonderful to see!

8. You can register at the polls in WI?
Now why can't something that sensible be applied to all the states? Seems to me it would cut down on a lot of angst and paperwork. Congrats to you and your daughter!:hi:

9. It will be a long time before anyone takes voting for granted, again.
This will be the Bush legacy.

10. Great post. It'd be funny if you had written:
"some girls some guys, some I don't know for sure..." But I realize you were in a serious tone.
BTW You brought a tear to my eye too!
